Today, we have higher education in Bangladesh because of Nawab Salimullah. He established Dacca university. Thank you for this picture Farhaan.

Only few Bangalis came to east Pakistan in that fashion. People from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh came like that way for fear of death threats. We call them Bihari collectively. However, the picture may of Punjabis heading towards west Pakistan.

@ From where you got this information that only few Bengalee people (refugees) came to East Pakistan. There were many, many ??????? So, far know around 25 to 27 alone "Biharies" and other non-Bengalees came from India. Many muslim Bengalee came from Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, Orissa and other places encircling the then East Pakistan. Their figures varies from 20 to 25 lacs. Yes, it is true that at the beginning (1947) their figure were less but soon there were many riots in 1948 and 1950 than bulk of the Bengalee muslims migrated to East Bengal. These were the forced migration.

@ The majority people of Chapai Nobabganj, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Jessore, Jhenaidhaho, Satkhira, Chuwadanga, Sylhet were refugee Bengalee. Bulk of the Assami Refugees who belonged to Karimganj and surrounding were later settled at UK. It is said that during those days once Pakistan was facing acute refugee problem in East Bengal, the British Govt offered to take some refugees from East Bengal. The Sylheti refugees than and there accepted the offer and that is why we find lot of Sylheti in UK. The other Bnegalee refugee declined to go to UK. They were very busy in celebrating "Larke Lange Pakistan" and chanting slogan, "Narai Takbir Allah Hu Akbar". It was a real freedom moment !!!!!! There were no "Darga" in the Police Station, no SDO, no DC, no SP all were non-Mislims went to India. There were no principals at the colleges, no head masters at the schools, no Civil Servents in the administration. Soon the vaccant appoinments were covered from the refugees(non-Bnegalees) and some civil servents came West Pakistan. There were not a single Bengalee Muslim civil servent in East Bengal at that time.

Today's Bangladeshi society at large mostly identifies itself with the Mughal era heritage.

Although, the Mughals were invaders as well. Mainland India has generally been a magnet for invaders ranging from Aryans to Mughals.

It is true that Bengal has a rich Buddhist heritage, but that is long gone. Their works were destroyed during the Aryan and Mughal invasions.

@ What nonesense you are talking ????? Aryan and Mughals !!! Do you know the year difference ???? You have know idea about history of Bengal ???? Are you been influence by the Bengalee Hindu writers ??????? Zabanya are you a muslim ?????

@ Bhuddhist culture were being destroyed by the Hindu Kings of Deccans once they invaded Bengal after the Pal Dynesty(Bhudist) sometimes in 8th or 9th century. The Bhudists used to belief, "Jib hutta moha pap", that is why instead of fighting they fled to Sri Lanka, China through Uruna Chal and Tibet, some fled to Thailand, Vietnam,Phillipine via Burma and all their "Bihares" were destroyed by the Deccan Kings. Raja Sen came from Deccan. Once they captured the whole Bnegal there were no religion in Bengal as no convertee were allowed in Hinduism like the Jews.

@ Then they brought lot of young "Brahmon" from Deccan and were placed in the newly build "Mandirs". They "Mandirs" were known as "Sharaen Mandir" where all the local young girls and women were forced to stay and serve these young "Brahmon". In the process of seving the offspring was considers as "khottro" and continued for 2/3 hundred years. The local people did not accepted these cruel and rude system. Soon, the muslim preachers, "Pir, fhakirs, Ullema Mashaiks" came from Arrakans, Central Asia, Middle East, Arabs and started preaching Islam. Like wise Shah Sultan Burkhi Mahi Sawar of Mashtan Gard(Bogra), Shah Sultal Rumi of Netrokona, Makdoom Shah of Rajshahi, Shah Jalal and Shah Puran (Sylhet), and many more came to Bengal and preached Islam. In those days due to weaknesses of Hinduism Islam spread rapidly and once Bakhtiyar came in Bengal majority were already muslims.

Where did you find this theory??? Do you have any source? Sylheti had a long history of settling to UK long before Pakistan was created. The first Indian food was introduced by a Sylheti in 1860 in a UK sea port. It was the Khalasi who used to work in Ships started settling in UK. Refugees did not have ability to migrate to UK.

One way you are sayin that Zabanya was quoting from Hindu source the next moment you are again lending the theory of fleeing from same Hindu source. Except some Buddhist Monk, no ordinary citizen flee to Srilanka or China for that matter. They remained as subjugated low caste under Sena Dynasty. Once Islam arrived, buddhist just converted to Islam.

As far as i know when the Sena dynasty came they decided to convert the Buddhists forcefully into lower caste hindus. And regarding the Aryan invasion theory, that has long been disproved as b/s british propaganda to prove superiority of europeans.

There was no buddhist subjugation or anything, buddhists were systematically assimilated to hinduism, sankaracharya played a key role.
