For the first time in recent history, Pakistan invited Indian Diplomats to attend the Pakistan Day Parade and several were present in the reviewing stand along with host of other dignitaries and celebrities. But it seems Pakistan's goodwill gesture has not gone down well for those back in India.

Full ceremonial dress is under discussion, as afar I know. You can correct me if I am wrong.

Not discussing Beret, even though that wont make much difference in circumstances under discussion.

I am assuming and fairly sure that IA Regulations are similar to British, and again you can quote me with reference of specific IA regulation for correction.

I am quoting, Royal Marines Dress Regulations as a reference.

" 02.09 Headdress. Headdress is to be worn outside in all orders of dress except in circumstances detailed below but is to be removed on entering a building except in certain circumstances for Church Parades and Services. Headdress may be replaced by appropriate safety headwear in certain circumstances. Particular rules on wearing headdress in vehicles and cultural/religious headwear are contained in Army General Administrative Instruction (Chapter 59). The wearing of Undress headdress by officers with the Full Dress tunic is not authorised. Soldiers may on occasion wear forage caps (or Glengarry in the Royal Regiment of Scotland) with Full Dress."

Gentleman we are discussing is in full ceremonial dress, attending a Military function in his official capacity.

Let me relate a story heard second-hand, from one of the protagonists to my narrator, from my narrator to me.

A gentleman whom we shall call Sam went to see his chief, saluted smartly, sat down and put his hat on the seat next to him. His chief was writing something long-winded and kept on writing. Before they could get started, a colleague, the Vice, walked in, had a brief conversation with the chief and went out again. Sam felt very restless. "You could have asked him to sit, Sir," he finally exclaimed. "Nobody asked you to sit, Sam," was the very dry reply.

Full ceremonial dress attending a military function, but sitting down, at ease; of course he took off his headgear. He would do so inside a building, sitting down; it is a moot point if a shamiana is a building. When he stood to attention, and saluted, for the National Anthem, his headgear was on, as appropriate.

You did not bother to address any specific points and situation, rather telling vague story and your cooked up interpretations.

In your story,

1. Meeting took place inside the building in Chief's office, other then at the time of salute, headgear not required. rest of the story is irrelevant.

2. Full Ceremonial Dress outside, sitting or standing does not matter, even nature of function does not matter.

Will be appropriate if you can quote this specific part "outside sitting at ease" headgear could be removed as per IA Regulations, in the absence of that quote/reference all is bhagat logic.

Our Pak / Indian Armed forces follow British regulations, as I quoted and according to that, the gentlemen is wrong and did not follow the regulations.

You can see the Indian Military personal has removed his cap....Uniform regulations require wearing of caps when outdoors. They are to be taken off only indoors.

The fellow purposely took off his cap so that he did not have to salute during the national anthem and other occasions.... They are a disgraceful bigoted lot.!!!
