Yeah, in India we don't desperately search for scapegoats within us for the fault of truly cheap chinese maal, like the broken locos.
See,what I said is completely true.Indians will pay peanuts for cheap goods and expect world class quality and then blame the Chinese for their own fault. If a Chinese constructed HSR meets an accident at any of the zillion unguarded crossing of indian railways, indians will put all the blame on china and not on its own incompetence.

No money left to buy Rafale fighters: Antony - Rediff.com News

And notice the difference between government budget (which includes the defence budget) and foreign exchange reserves.
:D India is not a land of cuckoo economics. Acquisitions are initiated by the Ministry of Defence, via the subsidiaries. Every year allocations are made to the Ministries. DOES NOT MEAN there is no money. Just that the budget allocated to the Ministry for the year was less. Also India does not invest close to 5% of its GDP into defence, so such occurences are natural. We don't aspire to topple the US anytime soon in any case.

You were lying that India has no foreign reserve, and I corrected it for the record. Therein lies the difference. Nothing else. @DRAY

India has less foreign reserves than even my own small city of Hong Kong.
Your foreign debt alone, is already around 3-4 times more than your currency reserves.
Good for you. Hongkong's reserves are really nice, I agree. They were better off independent or under the British flag IMO is another matter altogether. Their Golden period lay there. But anyway, who am I to speculate on that? :)

Right. That's how we roll. :D

Wda....its not money that has been holding back the deal it is french reluctance to agree to few terms that has cause the delay now....
But the major bone of contention is French aviation major Dassault's continuing reluctance to accept responsibility for the 108 fighters to be built by HAL as far as liquidity damages and timelines for production are concerned.
This has stalled the finalization of the project for several months now. Drian, on his part, is slated to hold delegation-level talks with Parrikar on December 1 during his two-day visit to India
Stop posting lies :P

It is wrong to expect high quality from chinese goods, hence it is stupidity to pay high price for chinese goods, if we pay high price; we will go to other countries. In this particular case we should pay higher price and opt for Japanese HSR. :)

His current supervisor is doing a bad job in providing him with correct, updated and relevant data, it's not his fault. :)

Well,I agree that India should go to Japan or france for HSR because it will just blame China for the inevitable accidents caused due to incompetence of Indian workforce and inevitably use the strawman argument of "cheap chinese maal" because they are too poor to pay for high quality chinese stuff.
Japan must be the favoured sourced, japan can use the aid it gives to poor countries like India to cover HSR costs because Indians would not be able to pay the even more expensive japanese HSR.In any case of accidents, which will most likely happen due to Indian incompetence,Indians won't be able to blame Japanese as they did them a favour by giving aid and Japanese won't have to call indians "ungrateful clods" particularly here on pdf:-)
