"muslims" are a people... islam is supposed to be their religion, and islami principles gives a lady the right to choose her own man... islami principles actually propagate against sectarianism and racism... read about hazrat muhammad's last sermon... despite that, if the perverted among muslims practice sectarianism or stop ladies from their absolute islami and human right, then they go against islam and humanity... be that taliban or ikhwaan or our own mujhaidind.

the present division of muslims into sunni or shia is a stupid division... the quran does not contain anything called sunni or shia or hanafi or shafi etc... all these divisions were created much later... i give you the words of muammar gaddafi which i too believe in... "honor killing" is certainly present in muslim nations but you must see who practice it... for example, the hamas group rules gaza since 2007 and they have introduced "honor killing" in gaza and their presence has encouraged that crime in west bank too.

Also there was a clarification that there is a restriction in timings for girls during night hours in the uni's main library, that was implemented and girls can now access their hostel library during night..

ALIGARH: "If we allow girls into the library, there will be four times more boys," the Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University has said in a roundly condemned comment rejecting demands to end restrictions on women students using the main library in the campus.

"The issue is not that of discipline, but of space. Our library is packed. There is no place for even boys to sit," said Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameeruddin Shah, addressing students at a function on Monday.

Following the uproar over his remarks, Education Minister Smriti Irani has asked for a report. The ministry has written to the vice chancellor saying that keeping out some women from the library is "human rights violation."

The university, which is counted among India's best, allows all graduates to use the Maulana Azad library but some 2,500 under-graduate women are banned from entering it; the vice chancellor says they can go to the Women's College, which has its own library though not as well-stocked.

Today, Lt Gen Shah tried to explain his concerns. "There are 4,000 under-graduate girls. If we allow them, we will not have place. Plain and simple - we can't allow them into the library. We are not against women's empowerment," he said.

The Women's College was established in 1906 and the Maulana Azad Library was set up decades later. Students of the Women's College were never given membership of the library, which can seat 1,300 at a time.

Women students are angry and upset.

"Aren't we part of AMU? At least let us borrow books, if we can't sit inside," said one student.

Another complained, "We have not even looked inside the library. Don't we deserve this facility? We only wanted library cards."

The university has been in trouble before over a controversial diktat asking women to wear
"proper and decent looking dresses" and own not more than one mobile.

i read naseer's autobiography recently... one of his brothers is indeed a "zameer" and in the indian army then... but it will be strange if what you say is true because naseeruddin shah was a amu student, and his first wife was also a student there... she was much older than him and had pakistani citizenship... amu seems to have been a much more cosmopolitan than now.

i have one question which verse of the quran is most important and i am not asking about your personal choice but the proper religious importance. The verse which should be highlighted and learned by every muslim.

I seen many arabs when i was in europe and that was in 2000 not 2007 when hamas came into picture as you said.
Also speaking of which most of them were tunisian,sudanese,moroccan,lebanese,syrians,iraqis and yes libyans too and they all said the same thing, back then your saint gaddafi was still alive i wonder what went wrong and why they were all ready to shoot or kill if a women from their family married against their wishes.
