Any one who is intelligent will be a garment worker in Bangladesh instead of a house maid in bombay or delhi (not assam which is a poor backword region) as becoming a house maid there salary will be constant...but in garment there is prospect of increase of salary with better work.

I really hope what you say is true. But from the discussion on skyscrapercity the condition of RMG workers isn't as rosy as you make it out to be, at least for not all of them anyways. I feel for the workers though. They make less than a dollar a day which is totally not a living wage. Even fakirs make more. My father pays 1500 taka to the housemaid and then she gets 3 meals a day, all her clothing/medicines, a room for her and her kid, and during Eids some bakshish. I'm not saying these workers should become maids, but someone should realize RMG work is almost close to slave labor.

So there are illegal Bangla migrants living in India after escaping from their country.

1.5 million migrants did not return after liberation war...so if they are also considered as illegal migrants nothing can be done about that... in 40 years they have been doubled for sure...n considering other hindus those who goes there constitue the total illegal migration... But it is no where 20 million... Taking in to account those 1.5 million people it is at best 3-4 million and majority of them are hindus... even gogoi and gadkari of bjp accepted that...


Point to be noted illegal migrants issue on states has not been questioned... so all those figure is not for granted...

But the figure of 4.79 lakh on bihar really surprised me as it is the most poverty sticken region of India with 81% people live below poverty line...has a per cpaita gdp of only around 300 usd... Only a foolish or nonsense people will go there.

I think lowest wage of 45$ per month was negotiated after the clash last year? Thats about 3000 Takka I believe. Unfortunately women worker aren't paid at par with their male counterparts and there are reports that factory owners don't usually pay the agreed lowest minimum wage. Either case its a good trend, hope Bangladeshi RMG grows more and more, and some of its profit goes to the workers not just the factory owners.
