This is silly, my family is from Gujranwala. We had relatives with the same last name who are Muslim and still living there. Of course Pak Punjabis have connections to Indian Punjabis.

Sikhs jatts and muslim jatts of central punjab definitely are related by blood looking at surnames, history etc I'm jatt from Gujrat which border Gujranwala. This connection likely doesn't extent to other biraderis in Pak punjab like awans, gujjars, arains etc Or among other non-jatt sikhs.

Thanks veer people on forums make up whatever story they want both on Pakistani and Indian sides, long time back in history Punjabis had tribal identities (Jatt, Arain, Gujjar etc ) and at some point people moved into different religions. So obviously a Pakistani Jatt will be related to Indian Jatt and Pakistani Gujjar will be closer to Indian Gujjar. Obviously when you slice a country based on religion the line will not be clean, the people living near border areas on both sides are related to each other and the majority of the Indian subcontinent is not ethnically similar to us.

The Sikhs/Punjabis may feel this sentiment but over 95% of india doesn't share this commonality with us. And it's the majority that defines a nation's ethos and culture.
