""Rail Minister has predicted closure of trains as he claims fuel stocks have run out.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore, somber-wearing Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said diesel stocks would run out within two days, and the train service would be halted across the country. He said that despite approval of a special; package for the Railways, the Finance Ministry was not releasing the approved funds. The minister, however, didn’t disclose what took him so long to come in the open.

It is learnt the Federal Government has paid the Railways Rs 32 billion over some time for payments under various heads. Nonetheless, trains condition has only gone from bad to worse. ""

I think road travel is the preferred mode of transport in pakistan. The quality of the roads and their spread is better than railway network.
It may not hurt ordinary people much.

.
Going by road is expensive if one travels by his own car, especially these days with high fuel prices.

Buses are uncomfortable compared to trains.

.
My guess is they will find some way out, just imagine the scenario in India 'No Railways' all hell will break loose but I guess Railways are not exactly a lifeline in Pakistan as in India

. .
I said in another thread also.

Get Lalu Prasad to move to Pakistani Railways. Its a win-win deal for Indo-Pak.

For Pakistanis he gets to turn around their railways running on loss and for us, well we basically get rid of him :D

How can this be true?? Didnt Riaz claim just now in another thread that Pakistan is doing better than India economically??

.
i cant believe this !!! are you seriously telling me that the Pakistan railways are bankrupt?

.
No chance of shutting down the railways.

No South Asian country can survive without railways.
