Next generation pakistan army tank to be unveiled in IDEAS2018

We are deficient in AD, tanks can still handle most tanks along with the ATGM capability.
But there is NOTHING the PA posseses save the hope that the PAF will save them when it comes to stand off Anti Tank cluster munitions.
How many hq 16 systems does pak military have?

+1 My thoughts exactly.

AZ's to stay, not T-85 III.

PA wont go for light tanks.

The ORBAT was hypothetical. Al-Zarar or T-85, doesnt matter. Point is they are both the lower tier of tanks that PA would be well served by replacing from the frontline units, hence the drive should be to manufacture Al Khalid over the next ten years to replace most of them

Low tier would be T-59.
10 years from now starting replacement for AZ? not possible.

For a MBT, I was picking one option out of two (Stealth Or APS).

Regarding AD, been mentioning a lot already:

HQ-16 (and maybe HQ-9 later on) are for fixed, high value installations. The Army doesn't have a mobile MR AAW capability, just short/v-short range.

Ideally, we could work with Turkey or South Africa on the Hisar-A/O or Umkhonto.

My greatest concern isn’t the platform since for all the hype surrounding better armor on their end; both actual operational issues and terrain/employment constraints reduce that advantage to where a Al-zarrar is able to match a Bhishma in areas.

The issue is when defensive formations and counter attacks by our own spearheads can face serious attrition by SFWs with nothing in the way of point defence and shorad systems to hunt down CBUs.

The Pantsir is able to lock onto a CBU and blow it out before it dispenses.

Even without it, even makeshift ERA on the top of tanks would be a good fix regardless of the extra weight and loss of mobility

Which is the most frustrating aspect regarding the PA lack of understanding and upkeep with the latest trends in AD even with sanctions. The Navy doesn’t get the credit for finding innovative solutions wheras the PA with greater funding and say seems to not be as productive.

It's not too late (until it actually is).

Denel Dynamics' Umkhonto EIR is on the verge of ready, while Denel Rheinmetall Munition has a PDMS/C-RAM in development (Cheetah). The Army is comparatively well positioned (esp. with the closer match to PKR and ZAR) to adopt these programs for completion at NESCOM. The EIR with a <100 km low-level AESA FCR on a tracked IFV like the way Turkey is doing Hisar-A/O is a start.
