News American Spring: Brooklyn Bridge shut down by protesters

i dont have that problem, my doctor never dictates me what to eat and what not to eat. for me it is more simpler, i just pay a bit more in taxes and the government takes care of the rest. i dont need to do all that paper work and all that bills.
It is a matter of principle. You can sign papers giving me rights to you if you like. The fact that I may never exercise that right is irrelevant. The issue here is to what degree of dependency a person is willing to place into someone else or into an institution. I just find it amusing that Europeans who sees nothing wrong with depending upon governments consider themselves sophisticated and looks down on Americans for resisting socialized health care.

I hope you are still paying or at least have paid your taxes in the past? When you are paying someone, let alone the government, then you have the rights to expect something in return, unless you are donating it? That for you is how things work in the realm of reality.
The word "resisting" rings a nice bell to the ears but the reality is, the government cannot afford or simply want to skimp out on the people for their own personal gains. Should things get from bad to worse, we might even get to see you and your kids rallying with the rest of your country. Unless of course you are willing to migrate back to Vietnam or maybe bog yourself down somewhere unsophisticated?

nice to hear someone from Britain to... how is it there. free healt care?

but look at Norway and USA Gambit. we are always on the top of the leaderboards when it comes to living standards, best country to live in etc... Scandinavian countries in general is at the top.

what obambam said is true, when i pay my taxes (and especially in Norway where the taxes is sky high) i expect something in return. i dont want my tax money to go bullets fired somewhere we dont have anything to do.

The problem with that argument, especially IF you are living in a dictatorship, is that the government by its nature is a monopoly. If you are dissatisfied with the government's service, where else can you go other than to emigrate? Think you can find another agency that will take care of your driver's license renewal if you do not like how the local governmental agency/office does it?

The question/issue is more than just rhetorical but very principled: If you have no problems with the government taking charge of your health, why should you have any problems with the government telling you how to live your life in order to keep its costs down? You should not have such problems and if you agree that make you a sheeple. Show me a government that does not care about costs of anything. Currently, your doctor does not dictate to you what you should eat, drink, or behave in ways that would be detrimental to your health, but what if he does and he has the power of the government and YOUR tax money behind him?

A sheeple is calling himself a sophisticant. 1984 indeed.
