New Zealand and Pakistan in the ODI and T20 series

.
Ha' it's a good news to wake up with. Of course my all the best wishes are with Pakistan's team. Their abilities to not handling the pressure is makin' me nervous. :)

Well that makes Everyone nervous... Sometimes they lose those matches which can be won easily :D :D

@Zibago @DesertFox97

Your predictions? Who's gonna win these matches?

Mujhe koi nahi lagta Pakistan easily jeetay or Shayd jeetay bhi. They need some trainings on keeping clam and handling the pressure on.

1st T20: Pakistan turn it on to beat New Zealand by 16 runs

WELLINGTON: Pakistan outsmarted New Zealand by stifling their feared batting barrage to win the opening Twenty20 by 16 runs at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

Mohammad Amir may have been the centre of attention in his comeback game, but it was Shahid Afridi's astute captaincy and the miserly bowling by Imad Wasim that made the difference.

With no warm up game to acclimatise, Pakistan were rather run shy at the top and tail of their innings but still managed 171-8.
But apart from a quickfire 46 off 27 by Colin Munro, and a stubborn 70 by Kane Williamson, New Zealand had no answer to the Pakistan attack and were all out on the last ball of their innings for 155.

When Munro was at the crease New Zealand raced to 89-1 in 10 overs, a slightly better run rate than Pakistan managed at the same stage.

Afridi pulls off stunning catch to dismiss Mitchell Satner
But his dismissal started a dramatic collapse in which five wickets fell for 19 runs.

Afridi bowled a two-wicket maiden to finish with two for 26 to go with three catches while Imad Wasim took one for 18 off his four overs with nine of those runs coming in one over.

Wahab Riaz took two wickets in the final over to finish with three for 34, and Amir marked his return to international cricket after a five-year ban for spot-fixing with one for 31.

New Zealand pin a lot of their scoring hopes on opener Martin Guptill, who bludgeoned the Sri Lanka attack in recent weeks, but only faced three balls before he was run out for two.

New Zealand had quickly lost patience with the tight Pakistan field settings and accurate bowling and Williamson's eagerness for a quick single in the second over cost Guptill his wicket.

Williamson batted through until the final over but without being able to dictate the pace of the game and his 70 coming off 60 deliveries.

Mohammad Hafeez set up the Pakistan innings with 61 off 47 but the real damage for Pakistan came in a brief cameo by man-of-the-match Afridi in which he belted 23 off eight deliveries.

He particularly distorted Matt Henry's figures, clouting 20 runs off four balls.

Umar Akmal's 24 off 14 and Imad's 18 off nine also helped boost Pakistan to a target the ultimately proved too much for New Zealand.

Adam Milne was the most successful of the New Zealand bowlers with four for 37 while Mitchell Santner took two for 14.

The second match in the three-match series is in Hamilton on Sunday.

Man-of-the-match Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi:
I think it was a great start in batting. Hafeez played an awesome inning. We arrived two days ago. Boys were not used to of the pitch and conditions. After some overs they went after the bowlers once they understood the pitch. I was very confident that we could defend 170 with this line of bowlers. I must credit fast bowlers. Amir and Gul did a great job on their comeback. NZ are playing great cricket. We are capable of winning against any team in the world. We are playing game by game. New game, new plan. Each and every game is important for the team.

2nd T20: Guptill-Williamson break world record in New Zealand's win

HAMILTON: Skipper Kane Williamson and fellow opener Martin Guptill forged the highest partnership in Twenty20 Internationals to secure New Zealand a series-levelling 10-wicket victory against Pakistan in the second match in Hamilton on Sunday.

The 171-run stand between the pair bettered the previous record of 170 between South African openers Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman against England in a 2009 match at Centurion.

Williamson remained unbeaten after a 48-ball 72, while Guptill faced 10 more balls for his 87 not out as the Kiwis sealed victory with 14 balls to spare.
Earlier, a 63-run blast in 34 balls by Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik lifted Pakistan to 168 for 7.

Shahid Afridi's side had a pedestrian start after they won the toss and elected to bat, with the first 10 overs producing 60 runs.

But when Malik and Akmal lashed out, the pace increased considerably with 108 scored off the second half of the innings.

Akmal was unbeaten on 56 off 27 deliveries at the close while Malik made 39 off 30.

New Zealand, with an eye on the World Twenty20 in India in March, experimented with left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner opening the bowling while new-ball spearheads Trent Boult and Matt Henry sat out the match.

It was a switch which suited Pakistan opener Mohammad Hafeez who took 10 off the first over with a six and a four.

Santner was immediately removed from the attack with Corey Anderson and Adam Milne tasked with putting the brakes on the scoring.

Anderson claimed the wicket of Ahmed Shehzad for nine in his second over and when Santner was brought back in the seventh over he exacted revenge on Hafeez by having the opener caught at deep midwicket for 19.

Despite the first over, Pakistan were 67 for 3 when Grant Elliott claimed Sohaib Maqsood (18) at the start of the 12th over.

It signalled Malik and Akmal to lift the tempo. After 15 overs Pakistan were 116 for 3 and in the last five overs they added another 52.

Mitchell McClenaghan had the best bowling figures for New Zealand with two for 23.

Kiwis just teach a lesson to Shaheens that how a strong opening pair is important for a team, win or loss is part of game more important is not repeat same mistake agains for next match. Where is our spinner squad?
