What's new

New trendy on Chinese social media today, boycotting, burning and ripping off H&M, Nike, Adidas over their Xinjiang remarks

.
Now to show you if you have really been to Ningbo, what do you think of Ningbo comparing with third tier Indian cities? Ningbo is around 2-3 tier city in China.
You are a fkng liar. My Chinese hosts called ningbo a nice Chinese coastal city , which many Chinese like to visit.
Read my answers to your Chinese bot , they were all on the lack of human rights in china , not shiny buildings.
Goa is also a 2nd tier Indian city. Means nothing.

What liar? can you read the Chinese on this video, it says it on the front page, " Ningbo, a quality 2nd-3rd tier city in China". Since you have business with China, better learn some basic Chinese words.

When did you see Chinese police beating people on the streets with sticks? how can Indian public tolerate this barbarity?

Another one who does not understand the chinese mindset. You were right if it were consumers in general, but when you deal with the chinese, you need to understand and adjust your mindset to the chinese. Or else: ''once you got boycot, you never go back''. See what happened to Lotte and Dolce Gabbana. Lotte and D&G could always make profit outside of Greater China market but their chinese adventure is over.
definitely don't understand. majority of people in china buy their goods online and what's happening is not just consumers that are boycotting, the big platforms that those brands depend on to sell and marketing their stuff are banning 'em too. more a than year already, d&g still show no result on tmal and jd search. on weibo, very few post about d&g. it's like they dont exist anymore just like donald trump after they internet banned him. lol. even if some fans want to buy, they cant. look at h&m, you can't even search on baidu map. it's much worse than people think.

Do you have problem reading the dates of the articles? By the end of this year Lotte has not recovered in the China market for 5 years, and for D&G it's going to be 3 years. You don't consider that to be long? 5 years is short term memory to you? Two months ago Lotte mentioned a couple of reasons the company is suffering right now, one of them is the boycott in China.
Yeah, so give me a link to their statement.

What I'm asking for isn't difficult. They (d&g) shut down 3 stores, but they're still in operation, which means it's not a complete loss.

You also mentioned that the boycott was only 1 of the reasons, what were the other reasons? How much impact did they have?

Its not that hard.

I don't know why you're beating around the bush, just give me what I asked for. Simple.

The one beating around the bush is you because you do not want to admit you were wrong on the part of short term memory inside the China market. You assumed D&G will quickly recover from it which has been proven to be wrong. Yes there are still D&G stores in China but to this date the sales have not recovered to what they once were before the fiasco. No celebrities are endorsing the brand because they all dropped it, all e-commerce platforms have banned the brand so people won't even come across their products when online shopping.

As for Lotte, it has not published the numbers how much business it has lost but that doesn't matter. The fact the company in 2021 still mentioned the Chinese consumers continuous boycotting it after a couple of years says it all. Short term memory? Just face it you were wrong or are you still denying it?

I did say I could be wrong, go back and re-read this thread.

What are you so upset about? I don't know about D&G, but I said something similar to that about Nike and H&M, and I merely suggested it due to what I've seen. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, who cares. I'm not losing sleep over something that literally doesn't affect me.

As for the article you provided, it only talks about the time period when the ads ran and the call to boycott started, doesn't really answer my current questions.

In fact, it doesn't actually give me what I asked for. I'm asking you once again, give me a direct statement, or investor call, or corporate report, anything directly from the company. It shouldn't be that hard.

You're just running in circles avoiding what I asked for.

On a side note, what is it with you and a few of your compatriots? Everytime someone even says something about China you don't like, you get mad.

I think you have some mental issues, where in my reply do i sound upset? You are acting like a sore loser when we have proven you were wrong on the short term memory. There is no need to avoid it, take it like a man and agree you were wrong on recovering in the China market.

These brands are scapegoats, the head conspiracy is BCI and American commerce ministry. BCI is an American Govt funded NGO for controlling the world cotton trading and textile industry.

.
Sure. With a massive middle class, and corporations flooding to China to get a piece of the pie, competition is sure to be tough.

Having said that, I honestly don't know if there is gonna be a large enough realistic impact here, especially to Nike.
It's not lol

Chinese are big simps for Western products. Be that Teslas, Apple or Nike. :D

Tesla ,Apple & Nike aren't popular simply because they are "western brands" they never had a similar alternative competition in their genre of product in past .
Well ET7 is the closest alternative to tesla s model ,and it's not even released yet .For cheap options, chinese models are already pulling ahead of.
Nio ET7 is a Chinese Electric Sedan With Tesla-beating Range - The Car Guide

Iphone has just 15 % of market share in china .Though there is no real alternative to the design-hardware -software combined interface of ios apple brand, hence it's not a competion.

China love ANTA more than Nike,it just needs 3 years to scale and take over the market share.ANTA is much better looking ,detailed and better value for money ,it's dots the latest trends that young gen z seeks and apparently there's nothing like ANTA atm . This brand ANTA will likely be the biggest sports brand in the future after taking over chinese market, which will then leave them in a better position to invest and develop latest technologies and fashion in footwear, this brand will soon expand out of china and probably take on Nike globally.

I have actually been to the city you mentioned. To be faire didn't encounter any of the things you mentioned there. Maybe you were there decades ago or something. As I have said before , having visited quite a few cities (not just the big ones) in India and China, i must say you guys have a lot of work to do to catch up to do for your 1st tier cities to even catch up to their tier 3rd and 4th tiers cities to be honest forget about their first tier cities. The worrying thing is that the gap has been increasing instead of narrowing compared to the few years gap i revisited both countries
Actuallyy since india and China are nominally still developing countries i think you guys can learn alot from them when it comes to city planning/organization and public infrastructure.
There is no shame in learning from others when you think they got things right even if it's from an adversary/competitor or enemy country. The advantage i found with the chinese is that they are more open to learn from others even if it's from countries that are hostile to them or enemy one like say Japan , U.S etc. They are very keen to learn from anyone and adapt it to their country. They don't shy away from learning. This i think is their biggest advantage actually.

Read my replies again. Ningbo is a fine city infrastructure wise. It has old and new areas. I never questioned the infrastructure in china , its the sight of two kids , boy and girl, being dragged by their necks by a security man , in the main waiting hall in shanghai hsr hub , with no one around batting a eye , that i am speaking of. Or the company head berating his junior for a hour , like a slave owner , that i am speaking of.
In India a simple new road has to pass the gauntlet of the state government, local municipal, green board, ngos, political opposition, courts, etc. The Chinese interpreter told me that in china, the bill dozers reach with a few days notice , wherever infrastructure has to be developed. No courts, except as a eyewash.
