i would prefer the fc1 having a Selex aesa radar than a Chinese aesa radar i believe its the vixen 1000e thats is short-listed.

There were also reports of a Russian based AESA in consideration, however most likely its going to be a Chinese AESA -- There were also reports of a radar from China that strongly resembled the IAI Elta 2052 --- At this point JF-17 seems to be on track as far as production etc. is concerned ... I think a Selex AESA would be a contender if the French avionics deal is somehow revived ... MICA, EW upgrades and a selex based AESA .. sounds like a good combo ...

As far as weapons are concerned ... I'll be far more interested in the 5th gen WVRAAM procurement and the new BVR from China ... with that the JFT gets a significant boost in lethality ...

The thing to watch out for these days is the two seater as more info becomes public .. an interesting mention was that the JF-17B is in addition of serving as a training platform, is aimed at having similar capabilities as a JF-17A -- the news that was given prior when the news of JF-17B was first released was that the main purpose of the B version would be to train pilots and it will likely be not as capable as the A version ... so a great degree of shift there ...

How does SELEX compare in terms of price? Compared with Chinese, French and supposedly Russian options? Given that PAF will like to keep price point close to 30 mil, highly expensive options are likely to be ruled out no matter how good they are.

FC1 would NEVER see a Western AESA as that means selling the Chinese the top line Western equipment (primarily based on the US or derivatives of the US tech. The JF-17 might. There is a big difference in selling to the Chinese (not allowed), and selling to the Pakistanis (a Major Non Nato ally of the US), for their JF-17 plane, and the AESA integration will happen inside Pakistan.

Not saying the Russian option is going to happen ... but you never know ... I do like the point of the cost effectiveness because that is the central goal of the project after all .. However if the cost is distributed to the overall order -- and the revenues are considered -- the option of "going west" is still more or less feasible ...

However, that is doubtful after what happened the first time with the French deal -- and from what we've heard and has been reported ... the standards weren't dropped for the Chinese equipment integrated ... and PAF is happy with the quality ... So I guess at this time we can all take a good guesstimate ... The picture will become alot more clear in 2 odd years ...

My guess would be Pakistan will go for best bang for buck solution for JF- 17. That's the whole philosophy behind this program.

ooh so you know Chinese radars do you? please enlighten us on how great they are. pakistan wanted the fc1 with Chinese tech with desperation as they were the sanction from the nuclear tests. if they never tested those weapons they would have had a different avionics altogether. face it they will not get American aesa radars of the question.

Sir Mar-1 is sure a good news, would you like clarify Ra'ad issue on JF-17 ?

there is no issue with Ra'ad, flights has been taken with dummy raad (just weight) meant flight profile at wings center point is not possible and the process is still going on. And I got confirmed it that pakistan still don't have access to full source code of jf-17.

As per my best info it is not possible to mount Ra'ad on wing stations no flights has been taken, wrong info

this is for your info most of the programming done by Pakistan instead of ADA we used C++ we do have all the codes again totally wrong
