A newly-formed alliance of nine Islamist parities has opposed Jamaat's call for a countrywide daylong hartal (shutdown) for Thursday.

Iman O Desh Rakkhar Andolan conveyed its decision at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity on Wednesday when it officially announced its launching.

Saying that they do not support Jamaat’s cause, leaders of the new alliance said they want trial for all crimes including war crimes that took place during the 1971 Liberation War.

Jamaat-e-Islami, on Wednesday, called the shutdown assuming that an "unjust punishment would be awarded" to its leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee for his alleged war crimes.

Members of the new alliance are: Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Islami Oikya Jote, Nejame Islami Bangladesh, Khelafat Islami, Bangladesh Farayeji Andolan and Jamiyate Olamaye Islam.

Addressing the press conference, Iman O Desh Rakkhar Andolan leaders demanded blocking publication of write-ups by atheist bloggers and punishment to them; putting an end to “ill-attempts” to ban religion-based politics in the country, repression on alem-ulemas and “fascist pressure” on "Islami-minded media"; and immediate release of leaders and activists of the parties who were arrested during Friday's violence.

The alliance will hold a rally at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on March 8 to press home their six-point demand, Noor Hossain Kasemi, convenor of the coalition, said while reading out written statement.

Good! It will be easy to sort out beiman munafiqs among the mumin. This remind me a hadees.

1. They never supported Jamaat's cause to begin with.

2. 'They oppose tomorrow's hartal' is probably the reporter's twist as he/she didn't mention the exact statement. Perhaps they said they have nothing to do with tomorrow's hartal.

3. Content of the news piece infers nothing in the line that they stopped their movement against govt rather it does the opposite.

Can we send Jamat, BAL, BNP, Olama Mashaekh, ICT, Projonmo brigade to Nijhum Dip? That's still jungle life, bunch of outlaws can play on the ground, fight, die....whatever they wish. To get civilized, urbanized every jungle needs outlaws you know the wild west era :D .. they can contribute in developing Nijhum Dip. We don't need these here, now everyone is sort of tense....ar vallage na.

Maybe, but you didn't post any video-link. Whatever it is, despite their disapproval of JeI's politics they are not going to stop their protests against gov/Shahbag.

Poor jamat. They dig their political grave by their own hand. @idune could say it very smartly." Jamat orchestrating their political grave by their own hand."
First they came on street to protect their criminal fathers.
No one was asking for jamat's ban. But since they came on street to do violence the roar of banning them started.
Then they played a cruel game of spreading Islamic propaganda. They got some initial help from actual muslim communities.
But they also started to understand jamat's propaganda. These mainstream Islamist dont even agree jamat as muslim.
They clearly nowhere with jamat. I respect and value those Islamist who peacefully come save islamic values in our country.
Jamat is a culprit by name of islam. Every Muslim should boycott them.

If you are not a Muslim yourself, then it is not good manners for you to tell them what to do. So are you a Muslim?
