Yaraa Hyperion can a F-7 sized unarmed drone with RCS reduction features serve as a mini AWAC of sorts in the manner of speaking that it provides us, interfacing with mobile ground-stations, instant coverage for everything in a 200-250 km radius ! In contrast to these huge birds that may accrue other benefits but might also be huge blots on any decent radar & may not have the kind of range that a MALE UAV provides ?

The absense of winglets also make me think..

on civillan versions of 737 winglets improve efficiency of the aircraft considerably.

Not all 737s have winglets. I know for sure the -600 series (and maybe -900) don't have them either.

To quoate a link which I cannot post here (< 15 posts):

The Wedgetail AEW&C design is based on a hybrid 737 airframe, combining the -600 fuselage and -700/800 wing.

So it may as well be an aerodynamic/weight issue ...

@hacksquat the fact that early 737 models lacked winglets is because there was no such thing back then.

Both 737 800s & 900s has winglets and most airline companies have outfitted their earlier 737 models with winglets

737 MAX is designed with fully-composite wings like 787 that's why it doesn't need winglets.

Actually the Peace Eagles ARE the E-3 Sentry, They are just mounted on another airplane. The E-3 sentry has been continuesly modified... So its up-to-date.
