Boeing F-15E Stike Eagle Fighter Jet All-Weather Multi-role Strike Fighter
WASHINGTON -- Israel is reportedly seeking fighter aircraft, tankers, transports and financial assistance in a new security aid package from the United States.
Israeli news organization Ynet News reports the requested items were recently presented during closed-door meetings by senior officials of both countries and has been discussed by Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter.
It is expected to be on the agenda of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visits Washington later this month.
Washington, under a special 10-year aid package, has granted Israel about $3 billion annually in military assistance but that arrangement is due to expire in 2017. Negotiations on a new package were temporarily suspended by Israel amid tension with the United States over U.S. support for a nuclear deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany.
The Israeli shopping list, the news site said, includes a new squadron of F-15 fighters, tankers, funding for Israel's Arrow 3 missile program and tilt-rotor Osprey transports.
No other details, however, were given in the report.
