Nehru and the National Philosophy of India: Secularism

I loved the way you termed Arabs as guests
Please, Mr.ganguly. Don't be so amused. I meant the intellectuals only.

No. Let me assure you, Jinnah did a great job in ridding India of a great many number problems. I congratulate Nehru for being to stubborn during the Cabinet Mission as well. In fact with time the Hindu Mahasabha (the Sangh was not really there and RSS was against the partition) seems to be the one party with foresight. They were just like Jinnah - they were opportunists, pro Hindu. Only difference being that Hindu Mahasabha failed to do any Direct Action Day. Secondly the right wing party of choice for general Hindus was still Congress. You must be aware of the right wing faction of Congress that thrived upto the early nineties. Hindu Mahasabha was mostly a fringe, as their electoral strength also proved time and again. So cherry picking HM to beat us all won't work, sorry.
We have discussed it before. The HM may had weak representation in electoral politics but they did influence Congress and its policies. Its a well documented fact. So sorry, HM and their successors must bear some responsibility.:D

Secularism will die a slow and painful death in India. Pseudo liberals can't do much. Bengal and Kerala went to dogs in the name of secularism. Either fall in line or keep on whining.

You mean pseudo secularism or real secularism? Because Bengalis and Keralites are not defending the former here, I am afraid?
From 'all' to 'some'. Boy, never knew I could bargain well. :D There were so many right wing stalwarts in Congress then. The last 'famous' one was Narasimha Rao. :D
Typical baniya :D

Indian Secularism as it was being practiced here. It's funny though how this real and pseudo debate suddenly came to the forefront isn't it? No one discussed it when congress was in the power. But suddenly Modi comes to power and everyone started differentiating between real and pseudo part of it.

wasn't he thrown out of office like a certain used toiletry or was it Kashi Ram by the secular Congress.

Sir, not a single one here blamed Modi or his party for a second. Funny how dogs of Bengal and Kerala suddenly started frustrating you here :D

PDF is but a small part of the bigger debate that's been going on in India after 16th May. And the fact every opponent of Modi are coming together on a single platform to save the secular fiber of India is nothing but a sham. The dogs of Bengal and Kerala started frustrating me because earlier the mess was within these states. Now they are a launching pads for jihadi fundus, and the SECULAR parties are giving them safe havens along with papers. Be it Jihadidi of Bengal or Ishrat Jahan ke papa in Bihar or the Commies down south. No offence but to get a lecture on secularism from people who couldn't run their own little state according to the values they hold so close to their heart and flaunt it here with a pride is too much to take.

LOL. Nothing like that is possible if I marry with the Special Marriage Act. In fact for me personally, that is the only choice. :ashamed:

Btw - I like your signature.

Trust me, what I mentioned in previous post been experienced by Sikhs. Further, my signature is bitter truth.

I want to debate on this Special Marriage Act. I would do it on Weekend. :D

Oops by that logic I would've become UAE citizen by now.... thankgod I'm not
A proud Indian would remain proud of India anywhere in this world...lolzzz

Oops hon ...2012 marriage act should be a reminder.

brace up!!!

Being a person of Indian Origin, I defened India everywhere, have done it here only. Have never foulmouthed about it anywhere. However, I don't buy that India is Secular Country. It is Pesudo Secular. :)

Err - 65 Year's. :lazy: I thought, this would have been more than enough time to take care of redundant laws - No Hindu or Muslim Marriage act. Same law for Indians. However, Indian Pesudo Secularism would not allow it to happen in another 65 years. Pesudo Secularism and Indias Social Fabric would Break.

We Sikhs never asked for Special Previllages, but equal rights for everyone including us. However, Indian Constitution has denied it - Article # 25. A secular country, wouldn't have. It would have same law for every community, not a special law for special community. :p:

Come on. No one here is a fanboy of the left or Mamata. If you say a Bengali lost his eligibility to talk about secularism (in fact the thread was something different completely) just because his state is run by a pseudo secular party, sorry it sounds nothing but fascist. It was not a 'lecture' on secularism to righteous public of India at all. I thought people represent here their countries, not their respective states. Sorry, it was a disturbing read.

I never said they loose their eligibility to talk about it, but its too much to digest. Every Indian has a right to share his/her opinion and we respect it but don't abuse it and preach us about secularism when Bengalis themselves have failed to kick out the pseudo secular parties out of their own state. It's as disturbing as when a retarded statement made by one person is superimposed on majority and everyone is labelled as backward.

What if the same thing is said by a Gujrati? Will you digest it?

It will be more palatable yes. And it's not because they have BJP, they have their own agenda but because unlike Bengalis they aren't importing illegal immigrants from across the border in bulk.

A sikh headed this country for 10years is a proof of what I think is secularism.
Pseudo secular would be a word that I would use for the politicians and not for general populace of India who respect each other and nor should it be used for the country.A country like India in itself is so great that no pest variety politican can bring it down.
Not every Indian should be asked to prove his or her secularism for a blunder done by the politicians nor should be the country sullied...is all what I want you to remember.
I speak here for my country and not for the politicians who utter mendacious nonsense.

There you go.....
@Ravi Nair remember i told you that the day I reveal the state that I belong to ppl would start judging my posts? Lol
