Benazir, Nawaz to return after announcement of election: Khar
CHICHAWATNI: Terming Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif most popular leaders of the country, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, former Governor Punjab said that they would return soon after the announcement of the schedule of next general elections.
Expressing his views here in Central Press Club Chichawatni Friday, leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said that the government's efforts to prevent former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto entering into the country is not in the interest of the country. The country desperately needs both the former Prime Ministers in the current situation, he added.
Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that the undemocratic policies of Gen Pervez Musharraf have immensely damaged the solidarity and integrity of the country and he (Pervez Musharraf) himself admitted that in his tenure, the federation has became weaken, added by Khar.
Answering a question, PPP leader disclosed that the military dictatorship had decided to kill Nawaz Sharif but he escaped after a deal with the government.
Dispelling the impression that the statement of Pir Pagara is the part of any deal, the former governor Punjab said that by admitting that PPP has its roots among masses, he exposed the popularity of the ruling party.
Commenting on the Balochistan issue, Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that the solution of the problem is possible only with political means and using the force would further deteriorate the situation.
Terming the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti a severe mistake by the incumbent government, Mustafa Khar said that the controversial statements of Ch Pervez Elahi further increased the hatred among Baloch people against Punjab. The nation would never forgive to those who violated the constitution, he added.
