Books mention that there exist fundamentalist cliques within the Pak Armed Forces. I never really believed this. But this episode where Pak Naval officers were involved has convinced me that this is true!

It's a dangerous trend. Certain sections within, hobnobbing with terrorists doesn't auger well for the discipline of men in uniform.

the report did mention officials of "commissioned ranks" are among the suspects.

Do you even bother to read the reports? Or are you trying to obfuscate the fact that commissioned officers of the Navy were involved? Here is what your defence minister said, and he has more credibility than you have, being the defence minister of Pakistan, having all the inputs however unsavory they may be....

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has on record said “some of the navy staff of commissioned ranks and some outsiders were involved in the terrorist strike."

You seem to be unaware of the difference between commissioned and non commissioned ranks in the forces. So, no, this isn't a figment of my imagination. I read before posting. You need to learn to do that too.

That is completely inaccurate statement. I live in Naval Anchorage Islamabad, and most commanders and admirals here both serving and retired do participate in tableegh and encourage others but they r in no way sympathetic to jihadis. They hate them as much as next man.

Commanders and admirels are aged senior officers , soldiers who are Young and impressionable can be convinced easily by extremists this is happening , tableghis are not bad people however there are bad apples every where
