Bhutan is a de-facto protectorate of India.

Sri Lanka and India are close friends.

As is Bangladesh, though there are some border issues there.

China and India are both mature nations and people-to-people contact continues. Note India is occupying (as per the Chinese claim) 80000km^2 of Chinese territory and yet not a single soldier has been made a casualty of war as a result in the past few decades.

Pakistan is the only country India has serious issues with.

On a more serious note-we can't afford that many figthers now or within 20-30 years in the Future.

Even By the Time we have the financial means to purchase all those figthers im sure countries will have prototypes of sixth generation Figthers Out.

An attack on Bangladesh is idiotic and everyone knows that.If India try an actual military assault,international responses will clamp down on them in days. To add to that they have Pakistan on one side and China on the Other...and we've recently seen what the chinese are capable of doing. India won't attack BD now or in the future.It doesn't suit there long term needs since they need at least one Strong Ally in the Future, although we will have to strengthen our politcal will since im sure they may try to gain a foothold if the US don't beat them to it.Only an Stupid Government will try to make allies of all regional countries(Just look at Israel).

However you do have a point-Our Military upper Brass have to plan out every possible sceanario and danger to BD and im sure India also has to consider BD as a potential threat.However a war between any state in South Asia right now is very unlikely. However im not sure about India-Pakistan Relations currently and BD-Myanmar war is much more Likely than a BD-India war.

Mate don't even think about Indo-BD war because India can't do that stupidity. Tell me what will we get by doing that?? Losing a political friend in region?? India is sorting out all the issues with BD slowly right now be it water issue or border issue. India has already 2 fronts to defend and we can't open another headache neither BD will do it.

Our defence Budget currently is about $1.6 billion dollars-This is not enough to buy even 42 4.5 Generation figthers.

IMHO, I do not see India-BD hostilities not only because of India's uneasiness in other border areas, but also the level of co-operation is much higher. There was a talk of common currency trade as well between India and BD not too long ago.

BD and India have a few issues which are not unusual between neighboring countries and there have been a clear thinking to resolve these differences with dialogue.

BD needs to strengthen its Military, keep enough deterrence. Having said that, an Ind-BD war is pretty far away from reality at the present rate of their relationship momentum.
