Russian Media has confirmed the news that Russian navy has asked for a 5 Generation fighter aircraft to be operated from their future aircraft carriers.
Russia is in process of designing and building new Generation of Aircraft carrier for its navy, Plans are to build 3 to 4 new Generation aircraft carrier by 2040-50 which will have a displacement of up to 60,000 metric tons, equipped with a fifth generation aircraft which might be a Naval Pak-Fa.
Russian Defence ministry has not confirmed or denied to any request which was put by it navy for Naval Pak-Fa which recently made it first test flight this month but Russian Defence sources have confirmed that Russian navy has ordered Naval Mig-29k to replace its ageing fleet of Sukhoi su-33 operated from its lone aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, and development of new generation of Nuclear powered aircraft carrier has begun.
Russia with joint partnership with India is developing the fifth generation aircraft known has Pak-Fa. Indian air force will be acquiring around 250 of this jet from 2017 onwards. No such requirements by Indian Navy has been expressed yet but Indian navy will be soon be acquiring new Aircraft carrier IAC-1 and will be soon building 2 more (IAC-2 and IAC-3).
