Naval Chief Calls on Prime Minister Imran Khan

ADA has good ASW but Type 54 and F-22 are limited in their ASW capabilities . hopefully PN look for more/Advance MPA's .
Why would you think that?
Type 54 are used as in ASW by the Chinese. What makes them any less competent really? They come with towed array sonar and a variable depth sonar as well.

Few years back I mentioned 052 class variant would be great Flagship for PN on Sino Defense Forum, one of Pakistani poster there was livid with my suggestions. It is heartening to hear that PN is moving in the right direction and deals are not falling apart as they did for Type-23, a tragic story. It would be very nice to see 052/055 class ship acting as Fleet Flagship, with name like Babur, same as ex county class what a beast of a ship.

Nah man. The Type 54A posses excellent ASW capability with some good detection and good hunting down equipment onboard. These will be a good addition especially considering the fact that they will give some air-defense cover.

Hi mate, can you please elaborate the story behind Type-23? I am assuming that the PN were interested in buying these ships.

This article is dated from 1987:

Pakistan has secretly agreed to buy three British navy frigates after Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher gave the Pakistanis an unprecedented break on the terms of payment, the Times of London reported.

But the shipbuilding company involved said talks were still going on.The Times said Mrs. Thatcher clinched the 557 million (US$891 million) deal with Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Khan Junejo when he visited her in London two weeks ago.

It said that the Pakistanis were inclined to favor the British offer over West German and Dutch shipbuilders seeking the contract but were unhappy with the payment arrangement.

So Mrs. Thatcher called in top ministers and just half an hour before sitting down to talks with Mr. Junejo put together a loan of 360 million (US$576 million) to help the Pakistanis buy the type 23 frigates, the Times said.

USN Brooke and Garcia where not FFG-7 "Oliver Hazard Perry" class but they pre-dates them like myself when I mention something like the type-23s. Brooke and Garcia were late 50s early 60s design where as FFG-7s are early 70s design.

.
OPVs are to counter IN's OPVs. F22P were replacement of Leanders. Type54 are replacement of Brook /Garcia. Milgem is replacement of Type-21s.
broke/garcia were returned to US in the 90s, werent they? I thought the type-21s replaced them.
