NATO vs Russia: Military equipment and weapons comparison - The Economic Times

Despite the country's economic crisis, Russia has been stepping up its military spending at a dramatic pace.

At the same time, a lot of NATO members have been paring back their budgets.

At the same time, Moscow's relationship with Washington and Europe is in its worst state since before the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

But how does the modern Russian military stack up against the best that the Western Alliance has to offer?

Take a look.
Armata tank: Russia's new Armata battle tank is one of the world's most advanced. More than 2,000 are expected to be in service by 2020, and was showcased in Moscow's Victory parade this year, with a 125mm cannon capable of firing 10 rounds per minute.

2) Leopard 2A7 battle tank: Not all of NATO's highly advanced equipment is American (though most is) — Germany's Leopard 2A7 battle tank, which recently came into service, is perhaps the world's most well-regarded tank.

3) Koalitsiya-SV: The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is Russia's new showcase self-propelled artillery piece, which was also showcased at the parade in May.

4) M109A6 Paladin: The United States' M109A6 Paladin is one of NATO's nearest equivalent weapons, with a 155mm cannon similar to the Koalitsiya-SV.

5) AK-12 assault rifle: These new AK-12 Kalashnikov-built rifles will become standard-issue across the Russian military in the next few years, replacing a variety of previous models. It will take 7.62mm rounds, like previous Kalashnikov designs.

6) M16 assault rifle: Variants of the M16 rifle, which takes 5.56mm NATO rounds, have been standard issue for the US military since 1969. The M16A4, pictured below, is the service rifle of the US Marine Corps.

7) Su-35: Russia's Sukhoi Su-35 is the country's most advanced fighter jet. After test flights five years ago, the military aims for the Su-35 to enter service this year.

F35: The F35 is NATO's latest fifth generation fighter, and is coming into service for parts of the US military this year too. It's faster than the Su-35, but with a shorter range

9) Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier: The Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia's leading aircraft carrier, can carry something up to 52 aircraft and is more than 1,000 feet long.

10) Gerald R. Ford class carrier: In terms of aircraft carriers, the US and NATO have a clear lead. PCU Gerald R. Ford is the world's lead aircraft carrier, and can carry 75 aircraft.

11) AH-64 Apache: The US-built AH-64 Apache is NATO's premie ..

12) Mi-28 Havoc: Russia's Mi-28 Havoc attack helicopter has a 30mm underslung cannon, and can carry up to four anti-tank missiles.

13) Tupolev Tu-160M: Russia's version of the US B1 bomber, the Tupolev Tu-160M is also being modernised this year, with updated weapons and avionics systems. It's capable of carrying a nuclear weapon.

14) B-1 Lancer: The B-1 Lancer is one of the US Air Force's long-serving aircraft. It's got a range of 11,999km, just short of the Tu-160's.

15) S-300 SAM: Russia's S-300 dates from the Soviet era, initially deployed in the late 1970s but still in service today. It's a long-range surface to air missile, capable of hitting targets up to 150km away.

16) MIM-104 Patriot missile: The MIM-104 Patriot missile also dates from a similar period to the S-300 and is still in use, with a shorter range than the S-300.

S-300 SAM:
this made me doubt the credibility of this report, seriously that is the latest defence system Russia has

I doubt that it will becoming this year.

I doubt that it will becoming this year.

Russians have already deployed S400 in far east according to reports.

That is what I meant, this report is flawed in some areas, this being one of the major flaws.
As far as comparing rifles, even they have just been approved and will be given to only certain Russian units. And the F 35 will be here in two years or at least one more, and to compare it would be foolishness.

Already F 35 are deployed and in case of any emergency F 35 will be in action in any sector.

Such reports only let us to debate.

AF investigation: Catastrophic engine failure caused F-35 fire
http://www.dote.osd.mil/pub/reports/FY2014/pdf/dod/2014f35jsf.pdf
read and comment, a little bit of research goes a long way. The engine failure report has reduced perimeters of the plane, also have issues with maintenance, production lines are too slow, parts not working properly or being redesigned, excessive engine noise making exposure of more then 10 minutes per day dangerous to crews, and more. It is a 70sh page report, and when you read it you understand the problems which media will not really report because no one cares. A simple wikipedia reading even would make you understand the problems at hand.

In the grand scheme of things, none of that matters. If NATO invades Russian land, there would be millions of volunteer battalions and no way NATO can occupy Russia.

Nobody's trying to occupy Russia... The PTB(Globalists/elites/"Illuminati"/etc..) however do most definitely want a war, a massive WORLD WAR if they are able to make it happen, and it sure seems to be heading in that direction sad to say... Im a proud, Patriotic AMERICAN and Id like to make it clear to as many of my fellow citizens of our wonderful planet as possible, that we AMERICANS nor any of out NATO allies want a war with ANYBODY. Like I said, were citizens of this great planet . The only reason there have been wars in these past 40+ years are because we aren't being told the truth. Media shows Russian aggression and says nothing about our government ( whom are controlled by some that I don't even want to call human, but I won't get that deep into that subject.) Starting wars, proxy wars, false flag attacks, all for the PTB's agenda for global control and power. Let's stop the BS of who's better than who, and agree that if we(US/NATO) were to go to war with Russia(our brothers and sisters across the globe), both sides would be decimated as we are all equally BADASS MOFO'S.. And thats just what They(PTB) want, so that after both sides have battered each other to the last few, and somebody launches a TacNuke, which will trigger a similar response from the other side. and we( the world) have been drastically reduced to a battered and broken 1 billion down from 7 billion. These ELITES can come out of their shells to "save us" with their New World Order, and effectively have complete control of the planet... That being said, I have complete respect for Putin, he is an extremely intelligent man whom is fighting the good fight, and I believe the absolute last thing he wants is this war, however... I notice that many Russians and many around the world believe that most Americans believe in our governments policies.. and that is just flat out wrong. Look at who our next president will be: TRUMP, he's not the average man nor is he perfect for the reform of our government, but it's a start, he's not a POLITICIAN which is an amazing accomplishment for us. You've got to understand, for the past 20+ years we in the US have had a secret government whom have been feeding us lies and convincing us we are free, and the protector of the planet when in fact, I hate to say it but our policies have done more harm to the world than all other nations combined over the last 50+ years... my point is we need to stop worrying about who can kill more of whom, and concentrate on eliminating the goddam PTB! If NATO starts this war, trust me, the citizens of these great United States aren't going to take, and there will be war, the 2nd US CIVIL WAR that is...!

NATO's expansion is unwanted.

Or for that matter any military alliance.

This is a multi-polar world where sidekicks have also emerged as their own pillars.

In fact, if any of you listens to Russian political debates or announcement made on international issues, they speak a lot of sense. Very practical and without the usual kind of nonsense that you hear from Republican loonies in US who disrespect even their own constitution.

NATO needs to find a purpose of constructive aggression rather than medieval style brutalizing of every single country.

Yes, Syria and Israel may have their disputes, but let them sort it out. Don't put the lives of innocent people on the line to achieve a fuxking political goal.

.
I think we should consider US and NATO vs Russia rather then NATO vs Russia

. .
Explain why??

Of war goes on what do you think just think if Russia attack US will use its full force against Russian to stop it if NATO attack Russia it mean that they are to gain some thing and if NATO fails then again US will use it's force to accomplish objectives
