When countries look to buy weapons system they first try the west. If that doesn't go down or they just don't have the cash, they go for the more 'economic' Russian stuff. The Russians are spending their @sses off like before. And like before, they'll be broke, wiping their @sses with newspaper. Again. And the shit they spent all that money on will sit and rust. Again. There are plenty of countries that have the money and offers from western countries but buy Russian instead. SU-30s were chosen over purchasing more F-18s for Malyasia.
Iraq has been buying MI-28 and many other Russian systems.
