You can take urdu or hindi classes as elective for your degree at college level and to be honest by the end of it, you will be able to speak. Funny enough , most of the urdu teachers here are from inde, I think a city called luck now though I could be wrong.
@liontk lucknow yea they speak urdu but even for some of them, their z is replaced with j

We actually have family friends from Lucknow and they are "correcting" our urud saying no its jirah, jiada mat kero  and I am like yea for you maybe :P

Hindi is national/official language of india and you dont understand it but call yourself Hindustani :)

well may be talon would tell us what they call naswar in english? :P

Good point, however India doesn't have any national language(s). 22 recognized official regional languages not including English. But yeah man, I feel all left out not knowing my mother tongue.

Do explain @Talon

oui , Urdu is such a fun langue, it is easy to learn but hard to speak to be honest.

Easy to learn? Are you serious? believe me one being taught to you is very basic and spoken urdu....otherwise if you get into its literature and grammer than it is the most complex language....you should try it out with @Slav Defence
