You can take urdu or hindi classes as elective for your degree at college level and to be honest by the end of it, you will be able to speak. Funny enough , most of the urdu teachers here are from inde, I think a city called luck now though I could be wrong.



Edit: the one thing you might find strange is the hello motion in urdu(adab) instead of a handshake motion commonly used, you bring the hand wave it towards the forhead eh.
