Myanmar largest Indian aid recipient after Afghanistan

all this about indian poverty is bs
all the bbc un and else get their data from gov do they carry out any field trials believe me guys i did some of WHO field trials during my undergraduate guess what we see people having bpl cards yet having lands good homes water supplies every thing yet we are instructed to call and mark them poor
also poverty is a relative term we talk of slums go their you will now see not even a single home without mobile phones and televisons what may be poor for america may not be from us
as for hungry people do you know as per indian gov view they consider any body without a proved income source or land being hungry the irony is gov still wants it that way

836 million Indians live on less than Rs 20 a day - Business News - IBNLive

An overwhelming 836 million people in India live on a per capita consumption of less than Rs 20 a day, according to the findings of the Arjun Sengupta report on the Conditions of Work and Promotion of Livelihood in the Unorganised Sector. The report is based on government data for the period between 1993-94 and 2004-05.

India now has more rich than poor - Business News - IBNLive

:rofl::rofl:

where does it says that we have 800mn starving people ??:rofl: another failure for you bilal

first report -- 3 years old not authentic

second report -- says india has 410 mn poor and it is based on multidimensional poverty index having 10 variables if you fail in one you are poor

Third one -- offtopic BS

Yes indeed India must be commended in assisting its neighbors. They are showing how generous you Indians are. Quite incredible.
One has to wonder when a country that has more than the whole of Africa living below the poverty line and not being able to feed themselves is doing assisting other nations? Maybe one should do as survey of what and how the 800 million starving feel about this remarkable decision?

plz, talk about thread only.

These are from the 2010 & 2011 reports, coming out from the World Bank, the UN, CIA World Factbook etc.

75.6% of all Indians earn less than 2 dollar (PPP) a day as per World Bank statistics. 645 million (56% of all) Indians live below the MPI index, as per UN statistics. Other international sources even claim that 836 million Indians (77% of all Indians) earn 20 rupees or less per day. All of these are international sources, they have slightly differing data, but it does not hide the grave realities of India.

India Estimates: Similarly, estimates for India also indicate a continuing decline in poverty. The revised estimates suggest that the percentage of people living below $1.25 a day in 2005 (which, based on India’s PPP rate, works out to Rs 21.6 a day in urban areas and Rs 14.3 in rural areas in 2005 ) decreased from 60% in 1981 to 42% in 2005. Even at a dollar a day ( Rs 17.2 in urban areas and Rs 11.4 in rural areas in 2005 ) poverty declined from 42% to 24% over the same period.

India needs to look after most of its population as well, before aid is given to others.

What are you implying? That we should first ensure zero poor remain and only then start? Here's the deal just incase you didn't know Foreign Relations 101: One has to go along with everything and everyone simultaneously. There is never going to be a situation where there are no poors in any country. Because such a society simply cannot exist if it is as big as India. Maybe for a tiny city state like Brunei, Kuwait, Luxembourg etc its fine, but in a conventionally sized country and with world's second largest population, it is tough since we're slow and democratic.

Poor inside the country doesn't mean that we can sideline foreign relations especially with relevant neighbors. Diplomacy is a simultaneous process. Not a zero sum game.
