My Motherland Pakistan

Hi,

This is my 4th visit to my motherland in the last 34 years---and it has been the most disappointing visit so far---.

I have visited the cities like Islamabad---Lahore---Multan---I traveled by road.

I was shocked to see the amount of filth and trash filling the streets and side walks of the cities---. The smell of rot and decaying filth is present in all these cities---lesser in Islamabad----less in Lahore but more in Multan---.

The cities are growing without any any personality and character---. The houses in Islamabad are outrageously large---in Lahore close clustered and in Multan one on top of the other---with no finesse---.

Multan was and is the filthiest of all these three cities---disgustingly filthy---even good areas are trash heaps---.

Actually---there are no good areas left in multan---. Totally out of control and rampant construction---with no regard to the building codes---and no one to enforce them either---.

It truly looked like a nation in chaos---looked like people with no direction---a ship without a rudder---total lawlessness on the roads.

As usual---doctors on strikes and poor suffering---.

Never have I observed the plight of the poor in such a distinguishing and open manner in my prior visits as I did now---.

The hope that there was in 2007 for the poor---is no more to be seen anywhere. It is all about greed---theft and plunder now---.
Bhai Jaan.... Just tell us 1 thing......did u enjoyed ur stay or no?
this disgustingly filthy Pakistan keeps attracting you back, doesnt it....

.
Gandhi and Nehru spent 20 yrs each in brit prisons.
Jinnah spent 0 days in prison.

Excuse my language but its pure idiocy to violate any law for the sake of it when you could mange to get the desired thing by remaining in the legal parameters . It's not something to brag about that i went to jail . So, what Gandhi did was utter show off ------

On the contrary, Jinnah was a man of law and achieved the very same thing for his people without paying a single visit to a British jail :D

.
I believe this statement is exaggerated and also true to most extent.

Corrupt leadership with lazy and unhygienic public. No planning and no sense of responsibility. Most of educated people are even worse and if you see them driving thats show all.

Bahria town is good example to follow.

.
Its not propaganda.
Jinnah was very comfortable with the english. You can google how many days he was imprisioned.
Muslim leaders didnt want to coexist with hindus. Which is fine as a point of view.
But ironically their are as many muslims in India as in Pakistan now. Every 6th Indian is a muslim and every 5th Indian is non hindu.
So just because he spoke english that made him subservient to the british Wow!

.
Muslim areas in Lucknow are the same as they have always been. Cows, dogs roaming around and gobar pasted around the mortar on brick pathways. Our area of chowk has been the same and you can't kill either cows or monkeys for fear of Hindus.

India should be ashamed of what it does to its people-then talks big on Pakistan's economic issues. Economic development in India is favored towards certain regions. Bihar is still as it was as are many other areas.

I understand the need to kill a cow for its meat, now monkeys. Why would you kill monkies in the first place? Not for their meat I assume and killing monkies is not prohibited even in most conservative states of India.

Killing cows is banned in some parts but why did you chose tag them with monkies? So what were you trying to imply there? That Hindus worship animals? Is this the kinda soft-trolling that has got you to PDF Think Tank. Wasn't expected from you. But then, again noticing your increasingly anti-Hindu and ant-India rants, I understand it.

Hi,

It is my motherland---this is where I was born---hopefully this is where I would be buried---.

I see it move ahead---then I see it fall back deeper into the pit---and that is painful---.

If the failure was under duress or under unfavorble conditions---I could understand that---but it happened under the guise of free and fair elections and selections---.

To be honest, I believe it's because you have been used to standards in the developed world. Obviously going back to a developing country it will look like they are more filthier than it would have been if you were born and lived there your whole life. So I don't think you would have had the same view if you never left Pakistan.

.
The best way to fight filth is to make people aware and make them dislike this. It should be a combined effort of Government and people.

sir g he is giving constructive criticism
Bhai jaan, where did i say in my post that he is not allowed to express his view????? :-)

Hi,

I don't have any problem with your comments---.

I am just talking about my pain.

Hi,

It is not that---I remember a cleaner pakistan---even in 2007---.

What my pain is---property values have shot thru the skies---they are at par with those in the U S---people are making a ton of money---but no one cares about planning---development---cleanliness.

Construction with no head or tail---street width with no standard size---trash and filth heaps---residential areas converted to businesses---so much chaos---.

But that's not just in Pakistan many countries in south Asia are the same if not worse . Having been to a few Asian countries (except Pakistan and Afghanistan) I can say what you said looks very familiar. The only decent south Asian country I found to be really clean, tidy, neat and well planned streets/city was Still Lanka (won't count Maldives since it's too tiny and merely a touristic country).
Maybe countries like Pakistan, India and Bengladesh ( I found both countries similar to what you mentioned in terms of filth/untidiness) can learn alot from their smaller neighbour Sri Lanka. I had my best time in Sri Lanka during my visit in the sub continent, Very beautiful country with lovely scenes/environment.

Nehru and Gandhi were both practising lawyers in uk and S Africa before leading the independence movement.
I am sure they had some knowledge of english.
Fact is Jinnah got Pakistan because of his decisive policies and the same is continuing in Pakistan to this day. One doesnt value stuff you get without effort.
