My Motherland Pakistan

.
^Typical BS propaganda by rss hindu supremacists!
Alot of sindhi's died fighting the brits.
Its not propaganda.
Jinnah was very comfortable with the english. You can google how many days he was imprisioned.
Muslim leaders didnt want to coexist with hindus. Which is fine as a point of view.
But ironically their are as many muslims in India as in Pakistan now. Every 6th Indian is a muslim and every 5th Indian is non hindu.

I imagine this is what the U.S. would look like if, like Pakistan, the U.S. didn't have armed officers of local court - sheriffs - who enforce civil court judgments or federal marshals to protect judges, hunt down fugitives, and manage assets seized from convicted criminals.

@Solomon2,

You have brought up an extremely important point.

When there was hope and optimism---law and order---the cities were cleaner. People had desire and energy to maintain them---.

As the corruption and nepotism grew---the rule of law and justice faded away---and so did the values of the public.

When the moral compass of the public goes askew---the infra structure crumbles.

So---you are right---when the armed officers of the court and the federal marshalls in the U S enforce the civil law and protect the judges---they are holding the fabric of the society togetherr and keeping the moral compass pointed in the right direction.

Hi,

This is my 4th visit to my motherland in the last 34 years---and it has been the most disappointing visit so far---.

I have visited the cities like Islamabad---Lahore---Multan---I traveled by road.

I was shocked to see the amount of filth and trash filling the streets and side walks of the cities---. The smell of rot and decaying filth is present in all these cities---lesser in Islamabad----less in Lahore but more in Multan---.

The cities are growing without any any personality and character---. The houses in Islamabad are outrageously large---in Lahore close clustered and in Multan one on top of the other---with no finesse---.

Multan was and is the filthiest of all these three cities---disgustingly filthy---even good areas are trash heaps---.

Actually---there are no good areas left in multan---. Totally out of control and rampant construction---with no regard to the building codes---and no one to enforce them either---.

It truly looked like a nation in chaos---looked like people with no direction---a ship without a rudder---total lawlessness on the roads.

As usual---doctors on strikes and poor suffering---.

Never have I observed the plight of the poor in such a distinguishing and open manner in my prior visits as I did now---.

The hope that there was in 2007 for the poor---is no more to be seen anywhere. It is all about greed---theft and plunder now---.

Draw a plan to clean it and see what can you contribute?

Hi,

The plan is similar to Mao revolution---. It has already been drawn---just needs to be implemented---.

Mao type plan can not work in democracy. We are democracy and we need a plan suitable to democracy.

Hi,

Hopefully---i will be in the U S---. If you come to LA---let me know.

Mao type plan can not work in democracy. We are democracy and we need a plan suitable to democracy.

Hi,

You maybe a democracy---but we are an anarchy---.

As far as South Asia goes deterrence would be the key to solve this issue, Heavy fines for littering and haphazard garbage disposal.. People are too uneducated and careless to follow civic sense on thier own

One word & one action is all thats needed - Enforcement

Enforcement of existing rules, enforcement to ensure staff dedicated for the purpose - Traffic Police, LocalPolice , Civic workers do what they are paid for.

The rest will follow.

Hi,

What hurts me----is that there are no ' small beautiful clean ' towns in pakistan---.

All are filthy---trash heaps---no water---no sewage---no cleanliness---and that is painful.

Sir agree with the fact that the civic sense really is non existent in many parts of the country but that has lot to do with Govt with regards to spreading awareness, implementation of laws and waste management. Try WAH if U are still nearby. U might be pleasantly surprised.

.
Cleanliness is an attitude, a personal and social behavior. It requires education and infrastructure to build this attitude. Unfortunately the South Asia has been economically poor for a long time and ignored the infrastructure that keeps the environment clean. Educating people on civic sense is important but if its not coupled with infrastructure they will get discouraged.
However, I have noticed very peculiar things among South Asians. When we go to western countries, we follow civic sense and civic rules in the host country but the moment we return back to our motherland, the first thing we will do is to push and crowd in the immigration queues, last moment take over at the cab counter and care the least for the respect of others. These are the people who are highly educated and exposed to western world. What to say about them?

Sir with all due respect, you are being too dramatic. Having lived in Lahore for all my life, i can say that with the amount of urbanization going on, Govt' has done quite a lot to improve. I don't know which areas of Lahore you went to but most central Lahore has been dug up due to the Metro line and of course they are extremely congested old towns where there is little room for modernization. However if you visit the new societies like Bahria Town, EME, Lake City, Izmir etc you will see that they are very clean and very well maintained and i am not even talking about Gulberg, Cantt or DHA.

Islamabad is one of the most beautiful cities i have seen in the world and believe me i have seen a lot. It is a city that gives me inner peace and satisfaction whenever i visit.

Sorry i have never been to Multan.

In comparison, if you visit central Paris, central Milan, Central Rome or even Central London or Manchester for that matter, you will find equal amount of filth and smell, over crowded streets and lots and lots of ugly graffiti.

I am posting some pictures of Lahore

There are a lot of them.

I know what arguing with you will be like, i have tried and failed in lots of arguments with elderly people :).

Next time you are in Lahore, please allow me and i will take you around to show you the real beauty of Lahore.

Well I hope that doesn't entail not changing people's mindsets. While wealth came to China it still has serious issues with people throwing things on the ground in public places. The "not my problem" attitude.

It would be interesting to know how things are in the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Maybe they are a better model.
