What's new

My favorite indian members.

btw.....forgot to mention Tshering22 among my favourite Indian members.....

I like him for his straight-forward attitude...

Debates are generally fun. We were having a practice debate and my opposition was ready to throw his chair away to prove his point. I just shouted my points out really loudly, pointed to her face and called her a racist for "thinking of such things". Good thing I didn't do that in the competition lol. A more casual debate i had with my Iranian friends was when they said that Avicenna was a persian. They were right

It is always fun to have casual debates but the formal school debates are the best! As a highschooler I would like to see more of them :D

Go easy... I see a lot of temper that has to be controlled....Dont go for direct name calling in a debate....Thats kind of a wrong thing to do....
These kind of sessions increase your knowledge and analytical power as well....You will find lots of hot debates here in this forum....:lol:

Hah, that is very true! We were told that after the debate. Nobody got angry, we were just going over the top. Anger usually comes when you are debating a personal opinion (and usually a clash of nationalistic ideas as we see on defence forums often).

I am a strong debater alhamdullilah but we were once going against one of the champion teams. The debating was going to their side until their last members said something stupid. The topic was "We should not eat meat" and the opposition gave an example of malnourishment amongst workers in UAE (we were going against argument). I was the last speaker on my team and it was my responsibility to prove them wrong. It was going well- I used a great point saying that most the laborers in UAE were hindus by religion and hence not one of them ate meat at all (don't question the integrity of this statement, the opposition didn't know better ;)).

We had this debate just about wrapped up until I looked at my opponents. They were raising their eyebrows and whispering things like "what is your point?" so I got confused. I thought I was saying idiotic things. I got flustered and we lost . This was one of my first attempts and debating but now I have learnt one thing: If the opponent is trying to scare you, that means they are losing. Even the judge said we were gonna win and I should have continued :(.

ohh forgot you sir, your one of my favorites also, very chilled attitude.

thnx desiman. don't know if i have attitude, but i don't take much time to response. :D

i go straight to the point. :)

hmm thats a nice topic indeed.....
I remember being a spectator to that in school. The topic was,"Is it mandatory to have meat to have a complete diet???"....The team that was against it finally won by showing that there are lots of vegetarian alternatives and that too commonly and cheaply available that can supplement for the protein diet.....

I myself am a non vegetarian though, may be because I like chicken too much:lol::lol:
