Musharraf Berates Muslim World

Musharraf, should come back and run for office. He had the guts to take on the western powers in the correct way.

Long live Musharraf.

. .
so why doesn't he come and give a lecture in a Pakistan or only foreign people will have the honor of listening him.

No worries, he will be soon in Pakistan insha-Allah and Pakistanis don't need lectures but they do need action.

Musharraf says he will contest next elections

LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf has announced that he would contest the next general election in the country even if they were held on a mid-term basis, a private TV channel reported on Friday. Addressing the members of his party, All-Pakistan Muslim League, in a video message shown at the residence of Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Musharraf said he had 200,000 fans on the social networking website, Facebook, adding that they had asked him to come back to Pakistan. Seeking the support of the public, Musharraf said he believed Pakistan had the potential to progress as a developed and prosperous country. “If you’ll support me, InshaAllah, I won’t let you down,” he said. daily times monitor

If Mushii teams up with Imran khan , that would be a better combination :D

. .
Ahh, the cult of Musharraf! Only in the blogspace; just like the cult of Imran Khan. Both of these men are true 'patriots' and are not corrupt or perhaps even not financially 'corruptible' but 'leadership' matrial? I think not.
To be a leader of a complex nation like Pakistan you have be a very cunning, flexible, pragmatic and culculating person. Pakistan is not a bank where everything can be boiled down to stock-exchanges or currency reserves or something like that.
Musharraf knows that he cannot survive in Pakistan's political waters. Not only he will be physically targetted--not by the PPP but by the vengeful Nawaz Sharif--but also politically he has NO base. I bet, outside of Karachi or one of the 'leased-seats' from a PMLQ stalwarts in their home seats Mush can even even a provincial assembly seat.
Any leader like Musharraf who can publicly say that 'Bugti's killing was good for Pakistan'. Who can say that Mukhtar Mai like incidents were for Green Cards. Who 'speak their minds'. They are not suitable leaders to lead a country like Pakistan.
And don't even get me started on Imran Khan! In 1965 Zulfi Bhutto left Ayub Khan's cabinet and started agitation against Ayub by forming the PPP in 1967. He was a real politician. A real leader. A bit hypocrite. A bit arrogant. But he could do so much despite those flaws.
Amongst the current leaders of political parties only Zardari has the 'qualities' to be the leader of Pakistan. Too bad, the right-wing media won't let him take a minute of peaceful moment.

PS. By the way, this 'berating' of Muslim world is not only factually not correct--there are dozens of countries in Africa, Asia, and South America who are not exactly the shining examples to the world. But also something similar was said incorrectly by another military dictator: Zia ul Haq in an OIC summit meeting where he made an emotional appeal to bring back Egypt to the fold after Sadaat made peace with Israel. Old bottle. Old wine. Except the wine has really 'turned'.

.
I hope to God Musharraf becomes President again. I can't take Zardari's stupidity anymore. :pakistan:

but the problem is musharraf is mahajir, the indian blood, a lesser pakistani, liable to betrey his nation(just what u said in the NY bomb thread)

.
This is old news but due to the Pakistani NYC bomber this is warranted in a thread. What Pervez Musharraf has said is absolutely correct and this shows what a great mind he has.

Musharraf berates Muslim world

Musharraf wants young Muslims to study in the West

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has said Islamic countries will remain backward unless they concentrate more on scientific and technological development.

Muslim nations are internally involved in fratricidal conflicts and perceived by the outside world as terrorists with little attention being given on their uplift, he said.

General Musharraf made his comments in an address to a conference of science and technology attended by ministers from Muslim countries.

President Musharraf said the time had come for Islamic nations to take part in collective self-criticism.

Once such an assessment is made, it would not be difficult to realise that the entire Islamic world was far behind the developed world, he argued.

'The most unhealthy'

The Muslim Ummah, or the Islamic world, he said was presently living in darkness.

"Today we are the poorest, the most illiterate, the most backward, the most unhealthy, the most un-enlightened, the most deprived, and the weakest of all the human race," he told the delegates.

Musharraf wants to rid Pakistan of extremism

President Musharraf then made a comparison of the economic growth in Islamic countries with some developed countries.

While the collective Gross National Product of the all Muslim countries stands at $1,200bn, that of Germany alone is $2,500bn and that of Japan $5,500bn.

He said one of the main reasons for this disparity was that none of the Muslim countries had ever paid any attention to educational and scientific development.

He asked the countries participating in the conference to concentrate on scientific and technological development in order to compete with the developed world.

The real jihad

The Pakistani leader suggested the setting up of a multi-billion dollar fund for such a purpose.

Beside this, he said, there was a need for creating centres of excellence in the field of science and technology.

He also called for the creation of scholarships for young scientists to seek knowledge from universities in developed countries.

President Musharraf described it as the real jihad, or holy war.

Unless this was done, the Islamic world and Muslims would always be perceived as backward, illiterate - those who only indulge in extremism and violence.

LONG LIVE MUSHARRAF!!:pakistan:

Whilst I totally agree with Musharraf's advice, wish etc. for the improvement in the Social conditions such as Education, Health and Social welfare of the Muslim, I find it unbelievable that the Total GDP of All Muslim Countries (over 2.5 Billion Muslims with the Fantastically Rich Oil Countries which are too many to enumerate) is only USD 1,200 Billion whereas Poor India with about 1.17 Billion Population has a GDP about USD 1,300 Billion.

As such I think the statement "collective Gross National Product of the all Muslim countries stands at $1,200bn" is incorrect and needs to be corrected.

Comments please.

.
Cheers mushy for the advice......why did you not do any of the things you mentioned when you where in power?

Mushy would never get elected into power fairly!

.
wel said Mush i have a questions here, were you thinking all this when you toppled a democratic govt ? mis-handled lal-mosque and made a mess in baluchistan ? .

I think he talking about GNP

Gross National Product. GNP is the total value of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a particular year, plus income earned by its citizens (including income of those located abroad), minus income of non-residents located in that country. Basically, GNP measures the value of goods and services that the country's citizens produced regardless of their location. GNP is one measure of the economic condition of a country, under the assumption that a higher GNP leads to a higher quality of living, all other things being equal
