GUJRANWALA: An Mushak trainer jet belonging to the Army Aviation crashed near Gujranwala killing both the occupants of the aircraft on Tuesday.

The two-seater plane crashed due to a technical fault developed during a training mission, according to an Inter Services Public relations (ISPR) statement which added that both the pilots onboard the plane had died in the incident.

The statement further said that an inquiry had been ordered into the incident.

The Mushak aircraft is a small aircraft which is not equipped with ejector seats.
Mushak is not a jet.

Does the army own Mushaks? I thought cadets for army aviation get initial training from the AF, as in India.

Nope....the Army cadets get their training with the Army at Aviation School Gujranwala.

Only engineers go to CAE Risalpur.

In fact, Navy and even PAF cadets come to Army Aviation School for their training on helicopters.

I guess it makes sense because in Pak, most helicopters (especially attack helos) are operated by the army, whereas in India attack helis are also mostly operated by the IAF as of now.

Might be a maintenance issue..
Quite possiblty.. Although the aircraft is 86-5147 which means it was inducted in 86. That makes the airframe some 27 years old and at the twilight of its useful service life.
