Murree Money Making Morons Now Facing Misery

KPK government should promote destinations as alternative to Murree with cheaper vacation packages.

Its all because of concentration of development in murree, due the murree mafia being strong in isb/rwp circles. besides, this situation will only last until the travel ban lasts. a permanent solution would be develop other areas, and raze the over charging hotels to the ground. murree is becoming too overcrowded anyways and these so called hotels have taken up a lot of green space, and are certainly not environment friendly

Murree has lost it's charisma more than a decade ago, it's congested, overhyped and certainly not a hospitable spot. Personally i would prefer to go to the Highland Country Club high up in Margala hills.
It's clean and green, not crowded, you get good service and get all the snow you want.

Murree is convenient for Isl/Rwp residents. Rule of law should be enforced instead of boycott. Also, boycott is not practical as there were boycott calls in the past as well with little effect.

And let's also not forget that there were some in Murree who really helped the stranded tourists. Murree also provides tens of thousands of employment to locals who have very little to do with the greed of some of the management. I don't like Murree because of the crowds, but I understand why people would go there. Not everyone has the time and the money to go farther places. Murree provides cheaper and convenient quick getaway to millions of people. However, if somebody is going Murree from far away regions, such as Karachi, then they do need their heads examined!
On a related topic: Murree also shows what over tourism brings as ugly part of tourism. When you hear about scams and price gouging in other places of the world, such as in India, that's because of over tourism.

Murree is not a very big area it is a very small zone with some restaurant
When it snows the terrain which is already difficult to navigate becomes even more dangerous

The tragic events which happened are regrettable but really it is the responsibilities for authorities , they should have predicted Snow Fall and then locked down the streets before the snow fall

Hotels and restaurants are not refuge , the owners have right to invite or reject any customer
However the travelers who decided to travel , under heavy snow bear responsivity for their own decision to travel

In ideal circumstances , a rescue service should have existed in the area because rescue helicopters are sent to save foreigners who are climbing mountains , so makes sense similar rescue machines should have been initiated

The problem lies in "availability of assets" which can rescue people in such circumstances

If heavy Horse power cars can get stuck the dinky Suzuki have no chance to get out of snow which is 50-60 cm deep

Absolutely delighted to see hotels in Murree left vacant and the streets deserted after authorities took action against the hotels and restaurants who took advantage of the tourists stranded due to adverse weather conditions.
Now this is the current scene of the area, No Bucks, No Buck Rogers. Let the scavengers learn the hard way.

There are stories of so many locals who helped.

It is really sad that everyone is lumping the whole are as one, how about the people who did good?
This collective punishment line of thinking is unfair and wrong.

Few years back, severe snow storms had all but paralyzed Britain, just for this kind of eventuality, British Airport Authorities had imported a £7Million equipment from a Nordic country to keep the Heathrow Airport operational around the clock but the person trained to operate the equipment happened to be on holidays.
Local Murree Authorities had a snow clearing plough at their disposal.....but when they brought it on the effected area......it had run out of diesel. !!!
Anyways, now all other Restaurants, Hotels and Shopping Malls which don't have parking facilities have also been sealed......word is the demolition squad will be out again to remove all the illegal constructions in the area.

They should resume all of Murree’s land and redevelop it into a handful of well planned and equipped resorts that can cater people from various economic backgrounds.

Further they should study weather it would be feasible to develop some ski slopes in these resorts.
