MRCA ::: India May Cancel Fighter Competition

No manufacturer would sell fighters at near cost price, especially for export.
Supposedly the downselect decision was based on technical factors only - of course the decision does not make sense precisely because it ignored costs, thus this article.

sorry but i cannot just believe the news that too some russian said it.....sour grapes!!!!

LOL so much talk about the MMRCA, now you guys wanna cancell the deal. The companies that took part are gonna be mad at you guys:taz:

You guys are buying planes like typhoon for your airforce, $20 billion sounda a good deal to me for 126 of them

Nobody is here to cancel Mmrca...............rafale is our choice..... ....and we gonna Grasp it:tup::tup::tup:

allthough...........our Air force will got Best......

I believe there is some nefarious attitude behind these articles. All they have to say is 'high price'. 'alternate available at low price' and it will create confusion among the masses. There will be allegation of corruption and considering the current sensitivity to word 'corruption', the deal could be stopped in their tracks.

Hahahah firstly, more than 10 years and no decision on what to buy was funny enough.. and now news starts coming out that its gonna be cancelled. hahahaha I mean what a joke!

I m laughing my *** off . not at the Indian defence establishment but at the companies which started getting wet dreams on securing a fictional 10B$ tender.

I hope the Indian people now get some sense of realisation as to what a big liar their GOVT is.!

hahahahahahah

But the article has a legitimate point.

The problem is that the government decided to let the IAF purchase 126 aircraft of their choice. Instead the government should have allocated a certain amount of money (say $15 billion) and let the IAF choose how to spend that money. That way the IAF actually has an incentive to avoid overly expensive aircraft and consider cost efficiency.

Under the current format, the IAF has shortlisted the most capable aircraft, even though that increased capability has come with a disproportionate price increase.

Dude if this deal is cancelled, 20 billion $ will not leave Indian shores. I don't find anything funny in this.

its just sour grapes and vested interests trying to explain why the MIG 35 was ruled out .

Russian's are just trying to make thereself's happy................they are still not accepting that Mig-35 was kicked out of competition:tup::tup::tup:

wait a minute - is having aircrafts at any cost is what you guys want?

$20 billion is ridiculous. jump into 5th gen at same or lesser price on F 35. I thought initial price offered to India was 60 million on them...

Our men in uniform deserves the best, not the cheapest.Atleast thats what I believe.

I dont think so, atleast Dassault wont let this deal go down as it will be their only option for exporting the Rafale.

Sour grapes?

If there was such a storm brewing (cancellation of MMRCA) in MoD it would be much more prominent and indications would be clear. The deal isn't going to be cancelled-fact. The Indian military might be generally (impressively so) apolitical but if such a farce was made I can't imagine what repercussions there would be in regards to military feeling to political masters. A lot of animosity would be let out and I can't see the MoD being so stupid as to let the competition get within weeks of finalisation and then scrapping it. The MMRCA has been carried out in a throughly immpressive manner uptil now, as has been stated by all those involved and many observers. The fact that the details of such an epic contest have been on the whole kept quiet are a testament to this and a show of the Indian armed forces true and unwavering professionalism which the GoI can only repay.

Listen pal, even if MMRCA was re-tendered your supped-up MIG-29 wouldn't win.

i think anything over 12.6 Billion $ for 126 MMRCA will be criminal...
