Kurigram, July 2 (UNB) – Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday detained seven Bangladeshis, including a ruling party MP and the Deputy Commissioner of the district, as they went near Narayanpur border for distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people.

They, however, released them one hour later when the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) authorities contacted the senior BSF officials.

BGB acting commander Major Iqbal said Awami League MP Jafar Ali of Kurigram-1, deputy commissioner Habibur Rahman, BTV cameraman Nazmul Hossain and four other people had been there in the frontier area in a speedboat for distributing relief goods among the flood victims.

As they mistakenly entered the Indian territory amid the rolling floodwaters, BSF personnel from Moslabari camp detained them at about 1 pm, he said.

The BSF men freed them when they to came to know about their identities.

captain, do you fault the behaviour of BSF. They detained the people for crossing border, and released them when they came to know about idenity.

Well BSF are very vigilant nowadays... Very good that they released them soon :)

I dont know how much relief the distributed among Indian flood victims. I am sure they went there seeing distressed people around and mistakenly taken as Bangladeshi.
