Casio's G Shock is childish. Don't get that
I bought a G Shock years ago. Lost it on a scuba dive. (My fault; I'd attached it to the bc, not my hand.) I'm very glad I lost an $80 watch rather than a $400+ one.

G-Shock is a kid's watch so no loss lol. It just looks like a toy haha

It was a 200 meter rated dive watch.

It's not just a "kid's watch". If you look at some pictures from NASA you'll discover that the G-Shock series was a favorite second timepiece of NASA's shuttle astronauts. Sure, it's not rated for vacuum so it couldn't be worn outside a space suit the way the Speedmasters can, but it can take the g-forces from launch and has a flexible range of timing functions and some even have a handy pressure sensor.

Still don't like it LOL.

Take a $20 watch and put gold colour on it (or polish it). And then ask a girl which she prefers between that and a high tech watch next to it.

$200-$300 branded watch movement (costs $10 or thereabouts)

A proper mechanical watch movement (this one is manual wound)

I basically like watches with metal and also these kind of watches

This Seiko Astron is simply an awesome watch!! It is on the wish list ... Have a look at Citizen's Satellite Wave range as well - nearly the same thing and less than half the price.

I did do this experiment. She preferred the $10 gold-colored plastic watch with the phony sub-dials and buttons.

Teaching her made no difference - it just meant she wouldn't wear either one. :hitwall:

I understand that in the subcontinent jewelry is a form of savings but here in the U.S. it's just decoration...

Chinese-made Seagull watch movement, a 1901 I think.

Seagull ST-19. Very reliable and much better than the $10 quartz. + Pleasing to the eye too. Intricate engineering is what I love about these mechanical movements.
