Modi’s leap of vision: Is India ready for a larger role?

America should never let itself be used as a pawn in India's game - A Different Perspective!
America being one of the most powerful countries in the world has lesser chances of getting trapped, while on the other hand we might not have too many options other than accepting the conditions put forward by 'em.

True genius stepping into the trap knowing it is a trap and setting your trap to trap the enemy.
I wish...i wish... :)

Au Contraire Madame, America has been jumping into one trap to another post 9/11.

It played into the hands of OBL and his ilk by stepping into Afghanistan and then Iraq and then middle east thus acting like a Jesus to the terrorists and giving CPR to dying ideology. It was stated by none other than OBL that they cannot fight US on their terms, they have to make US come to their turf which they did. He was a brilliant man who new his brand of politics needs a clear and present enemy. Now due to America's action we see ISIS sprouting wings everywhere with a ready corps of young and educated blood as currency to spend. I would go as far as to say ISIS IS A LOVE CHILD OF OBL AND USA

Power is a particularly powerful Aphrodisiac, makes you feel invincible. I don't have any particular respect for US policy these days. Days of Henry Kissinger is long gone.

Sorry for derailing the thread but this was a bone too juicy to give a pass.

Since I do (also) dont want to derail this thread...this is going to be my last post about US on this thread. :)
I do not think US was trapped by OBL or his likes. This was a well etched plan, of which OBL was just a poster boy.
Globalised war, eliminating all sovereign independent governments by political means or brute force, propaganda wars- financial/economic ones...coups..assassinations, all this is inlcuded in Washington's master plan.

Power is a particularly powerful Aphrodisiac, makes you feel invincible.
True...America may not be as powerful as it was but it is still one the most powerful country in the world. It will take the combined efforts of stalwarts like China and Russia to defeat America....and I do not see India in the picture. :)

MMS was the best man for economy, but then he never truly made decision himself. all decision making was done by Gandhis.

I would dispute the contention that he was the best man for the economy, his second term as PM was an unmitigated economic disaster and his first term was largely based on the growth push of the previous NDA government. His government went slow on the ambitious road idea & the disastrous MNREGA was started during that term as also all the scams though they would only come to light later. Defence was badly neglected & all the damage we are facing today is because he & his government failed India. He was undoubtedly a very good Finance Minister but then he had the backing of one of the greatest (certainly the brightest) PM's India ever had. Rao gets a lot less credit than he deserves.

He was more in a Advisory Position but you all are reaping benefits of his advisory services.

Modi did Good in Gujrat but as a PM he is yet to prove his worth on International level.

Modi indeed did great service to India by creating a perspective of India being an investment friendly country,

He didn't make India an investment friendly country .... India opened for foreign investment by Manmohan Singh

I was not trolling you wrote it on above mentioned comment
As if he had any other choice....Opening up of the economy was one of the main condition of IMF for granting loan to us......

Fully agree with all the points.

Plus, India became a Current Account Surplus country for the first time in last three decades or so under the Vajpayee govt. And Congress govt. under MMS or practically under the 'Congress High Command' undid all the gains made during Vajpayeeji's govt. and took the Current Account Deficits to record highs with their flawed economic policies. Recently I read in a business paper that India is likely to become a Current Account Surplus country again sometime in next quarter, let's see.

MMS was never a leader or a visionary, and the credit for the economic liberalisation in 1991 entirely belongs to the able leadership of PVN Rao, the best PM Congress has ever produced.
