Modi govt to reinstall Veer Savarkar's plaque at Andaman jail

Veer Savarkar as an accused during the trial of Nathuram Godse for the murder of Mahatma Gandhi.

He was honourably acquitted of all charges. ............. but "seclar" media trial has convicted him for much worse :P

. .
Sadly I don't know much about him do tell more
Actually he was not a freedom fighter he was a traitor. He sought clemency while lodged in Andamans' Cellular Jail.
His apology letter to British.

That is right, Shivaji too pleaded for clemency from Aurangzeb and chose to become a courtier in Aurangzeb's court.

In fact Shivaji was insluted in Auragzeb's court and then put under house arrest. He too escaped delhi like a coward by hiding in a bag of sweets.

I guess that makes Shivaji a coward and a Traitor too

What about the "terrorist" Bhagat Singh ? ..... was he a traitor too ?

Veer Savarkar was sentenced to 50 years in prison by a kangaroo court and what did Gandhi and the congress do about it ? Veer Savarkar did what he had to do to get out and fight for India and Indians.

The people of India respect that and revere him and "seculars" like you will be confined to the dustbins of history.

One of the letters Savarkar wrote in the time of the First World War to Mr Montague, the then Secretary of State for India reads thus: If Britain sets up colonial self Government for India the Indian revolutionaries would cease all hostilities and help Britain in war effort. The Governor General eventually replied, ‘In the present circumstances it is impossible to give effect to your suggestion.’

Another letter by Savarkar asked the governor general to release other prisoners while Savarkar willingly agreed to remain imprisoned. On questioning Savarkar in 1914 in the Andamans, Home Secretary Reginald Craddock informed his seniors that Savarkar showed no regret for his revolutionary deeds but conceded that Britain’s engagement with the Indian leadership made the mutineer reconsider his political targets.

Besides, Savarkar himself was sentenced toTransportation for Life, which according to prison rules meant that after serving about four years, he could work outside the jail and eventually settle on the islands. But that did not happen.

On the issue of dropping the protests in later years knowing the brutal treatment already meted out to Savarkar, it is understandable why he avoided constant hostility. Some would call it cowardice but it is nothing more than political realism.

Well he didn't just pleaded for clemency but also described himself as a ''prodigal son'' longing to return to the ''parental doors of the British government''. In his letter he proclaimed his loyalty to the English government
Savarkar had begged the British for mercy - The Times of India

It is not people of India but only "communal extremists" like you revere him.
What about the "terrorist" Bhagat Singh ?
No wonder ......Bhagat Singh was a terrorist but only in the eyes of RSS ( organisation which has zero contribution in Indian independence) followers.
Please explain how Bhagat Singh was a terrorist ?

LOL... Bhagat Singh was a terrorist because he threw a Bomb on unarmed Indians you Fool  ............ now choke on that.

Shivaji too pledged his loyalty to Aurangzeb  .......... its called political manoeuvring. The way Arvind Kejriwal pretended to be honest and straight forward. LOL.

For all your hyperbole, Savarkar was still a citizen of India and there was a rule of Law in India. That is why Gandhiji became a Lawyer, Nehru became a Lawyer, Jinnah became a lawyer and Bhagat singh saught "justice" under the law.

This is the letter that Veer Savarkar sent,

Petition from V D Savarkar (Convict No. 32778) to the Home Member of the Government of India, dated the 14th November, 1913.
“I beg to submit the following points for your kind consideration:
(1) When I came here in 1911 June, I was along with the rest of the convicts of my party taken to the office of the Chief Commissioner. There I was classed as "D" meaning dangerous prisoner; the rest of the convicts were not classed as "D". Then I had to pass full 6 months in solitary confinement. The other convicts had not. During that time I was put on the coir pounding though my hands were bleeding. Then I was put on the oil-mill - the hardest labour in the jail. Although my conduct during all the time was exceptionally good still at the end of these six months I was not sent out of the jail; though the other convicts who came with me were. From that time to this day I have tried to keep my behaviour as good as possible.

(2) When I petitioned for promotion I was told I was a special class prisoner and so could not be promoted. When any of us asked for better food or any special treatment we were told "You are only ordinary convicts and must eat what the rest do". Thus Sir, Your Honour would see that only for special disadvantages we are classed as special prisoners.

(3) When the majority of the casemen were sent outside I requested for my release. But, although I had been cased (caned?) hardly twice or thrice and some of those who were released, for a dozen and more times, still I was not released with them because I was their casemen. But when after all, the order for my release was given and when just then some of the political prisoners outside were brought into the troubles I was locked in with them because I was their casemen.

(4) If I was in Indian jails I would have by this time earned much remission, could have sent more letters home, got visits. If I was a transportee pure and simple I would have by this time been released, from this jail and would have been looking forward for ticket-leave, etc. But as it is, I have neither the advantages of the Indian jail nor of this convict colony regulation; though had to undergo the disadvanatges of both.

(5) Therefore will your honour be pleased to put an end to this anomalous situation in which I have been placed, by either sending me to Indian jails or by treating me as a transportee just like any other prisoner. I am not asking for any preferential treatment, though I believe as a political prisoner even that could have been expected in any civilized administration in the Independent nations of the world; but only for the concessions and favour that are shown even to the most depraved of convicts and habitual criminals? This present plan of shutting me up in this jail permanently makes me quite hopeless of any possibility of sustaining life and hope. For those who are term convicts the thing is different, but Sir, I have 50 years staring me in the face! How can I pull up moral energy enough to pass them in close confinement when even those concessions which the vilest of convicts can claim to smoothen their life are denied to me? Either please to send me to Indian jail for there I would earn (a) remission; (b) would have a visit from my people come every four months for those who had unfortunately been in jail know what a blessing it is to have a sight of one's nearest and dearest every now and then! (c) and above all a moral - though not a legal - right of being entitled to release in 14 years; (d) also more letters and other little advantages. Or if I cannot be sent to India I should be released and sent outside with a hope, like any other convicts, to visits after 5 years, getting my ticket leave and calling over my family here. If this is granted then only one grievance remains and that is that I should be held responsible only for my own faults and not of others. It is a pity that I have to ask for this - it is such a fundamental right of every human being! For as there are on the one hand, some 20 political prisoners - young, active and restless, and on the other the regulations of a convict colony, by the very nature of them reducing the liberties of thought and expression to lowest minimum possible; it is but inevitable that every now and then some one of them will be found to have contravened a regulation or two and if all be held responsible for that, as now it is actually done - very little chance of being left outside remains for me.

It shows how lonely he was in his battle with the British.

He not only fought for other Indians but had to fight for his own self too since nobody fought for him.

Imagine his immense courage that never gave up home and the indomitable courage that burned in his heart.

The AAPtards cowards and worthless scums who throw stones at Veer Savarkar do not even have a fraction of the courage or determination that he showed while he took on the greatest Empire Mankind had evern known.

All Alone. Now that is true courage and grit.

Just to rub it in for the AAPtard.......... here is Terrorist Bhagat Singh in action.

Nobody was hurt by the explosion you fool as Bhagat Singh had aimed the bomb carefully, to land away from the seated members, on the floor.
On the other hand your so called "veer" savarkar...... just few sticks on his back & he proclaimed Britishers as his fathers.
Petition you have posted was written in 1917. He had written 2 mercy petitions to the British. Why are you ashamed of showing his petition written by him in November 14, 1913 in which he had written to the Government: “I am ready to serve the Government they like … Where else can the prodigal son return but to the parental doors of the Government?
Not just this
On January 6, 1924, he was released from Yervada jail Pune subject to certain conditions. Two of them were as follows:
1. Savarkar shall reside in Ratnagiri district and shall not go beyond the limits of that district without the permission of Government or in case of emergency of the District Magistrate.

2. He will not engage privately or publicly in any manner of political activities without the consent of Government for a period of five years, such restrictions being renewable at the discretion of Government at the expiry of the said period.

The option to renew the terms was with Government and not with Savarkar who accepted the conditions.

That doesn't mean he was not loyal to India, maybe he was thinking practically & if Congress is hate anybdy then he must be good
Well he clearly mentioned his loyalties towards British in plea for mercy written in November 1913. He was Freedom Fighter Savarkar who did not do anything for the country after 1913 till his death in 1966.
Don't you think our country glorifies controversial heroes rather than genuine ones ?

LOL. So what ?

Was Bhagat Singh a Robot who could chuck a bomb with such precision that no one could get hurt ?

He was an incompetent and immature teenager who did a rash act of terrorism and was then hanged like a dog for it. Chew on that.

Just because a terrorist bomb did not kill anyone, it does not make him a Saint. He is just an incompetent terrorist.

On the other hand your so called "veer" savarkar...... just few sticks on his back & he proclaimed Britishers as his fathers.

Kaala Pani was more than just a few sticks on his back

It was designed to break one's spirit. Still it could not break his. Unlike the cowardly bhagat sigh who did not even have the courage to save himself but choose to die meekly by british hands.

LOL..... You MORON.... I have published the letter that was written by him on November 14, 1913. Do't you know how to read you dumb fcuk ?

LOL. So what ? Shivaji too agreed to not attack Auragzeb after his submission to the mughal empire.

If you look at the pictures I have posted, you will see that Savarkar was always accompanied by a Policeman after he was released. The IB kept an eye on him at all times.

Veer Savarkar modified his approach to freedom struggle after his incarceration. He encouraged Indians to join the Army and Navy and revolt from within.

THAT is what got us our Freedom.

Well he clearly mentioned his loyalties towards British in plea for mercy written in November 1913. He was Freedom Fighter Savarkar who did not do anything for the country after 1913 till his death in 1966.

LOL. Only a Fool will think that a Revolutionary like Veer Savarkar will shift his loyalties to the British

Maybe you are mistaking him for "chacha" Nehru. The Syphilis infected hero of "seculars" like you.

Those who question Savarkar.... should just look at themselves... they can not achieve even 1% of his achievements.... especially these AAPtards. Ek dehli jal board aur bijli company chalti nahi ... aa gaye muh utha ke.

I think they are quite happy to sacrifice OTHERS for their political interest. Its a long list from Anna Hazare to Prashant Bushan :P

They only have a problem with self sacrifice.
