Modi govt clears private sector entry into military transport aircraft project

Sorry for posting the same news, but the other thread has become a chit chat thread with outdated information.

Didn't see your tag, but as I said in one of the other threads:

Besides that this news is actually nothing new, that's what the UPA and the former Defence Minister already did, but so far the problem was that the privat Indian industry had no interest in the project. If that doesn't change, HAL will again be the only option, even for the BJP.

. .
Monopoly is broken at last. Some competition for HAL... & efficiency by private sector will force HAL to get their act together. This is a great move.. will result in positive consequences!

Didn't see your tag, but as I said in one of the other threads:
Actually no, Praful Patel had prevailed on MoD to make sure that HAL gets an in, which kind of defeated the entire purpose of this exercise(apart from getting the planes).

So, it is a turn from what UPA was going to do.

.
Start of a process which will greatly enhance our domestic absorption of TOT atleast in near future.

. . .
Now Only prayers can save that child. LCA fan boys should start praying before it's too late. :D

oh they like to bash people like me for showing them the obvious,,,but then they also are getting their salaries from hal/drdo so its kinda natural for them to protect their super organizations

I am waiting for the day when TATA and Mahindra make their very own Fighter Jet. Man!! What a day would that be, I am getting goosebumps already!!

7th generation fighter aircraft!!!
Looking at the trend of decreasing no. aircraft made with each successive generation, I predict only 20 7th gen aircraft will be made by India :D

I guess TATA and SAAB had a tie up to make a new variant of Grippen.

Don't get ahead of yourself there bro, Mahindra to date have only produced a light turbo-prop a/c and TATA zilch- let's see how their foray into the defence sector goes (it has only just started in earnest really) before expecting so much.

It takes decades of experience and lots of money and know how to come up with modern fighter aircraft. TATA and Mahindra (has the latter one anything to do with aviation?) are even way behind HAL in this regard

Economic Times Saturday Edition. There is an article in which TASL claims they are ready to manufacture entire Radar Systems and Aircraft as a whole and challenge the PSU's stating that it is currently being done by BEL and HAL and that TATA can get this done all under one Roof.
