so you`re saying that the BMD is less modern than the S-300?lol Phase-1 was solely meant for the missiles that you just said not only the m-11.m-11 are already soo old india started this project like in 21st century.so i dont get it why you`re saying it wont intercept the latest missiles

yeah they are being developed for missiles with ICBM range.. part of phase 2.. first India has to have counter measures against Pakistani threat and then Chinese ...

How is that even possible ??? A5 flies at a speed of Mach 25, there's no way anything can reach close to it to refuel it...Looks like Pakistani Ballistic missile is also subsonic... That way its possible to refuel it but a subsonic ballistic missile is of no use...

Thats true....This is why cruise missile are able to evade the radars....but a subsonic cruise missile is of no use today if you have decent french or israeli radars....Not including US because they like to tweak such devices...

Our own Revathi radar is more than enough to track subsonic cruise missiles.

Sorry my friend but thats a wishful thinking...The new arudhra radar are modified israeli radars so they are atleast as good as their israeli counterpart. These radars can track cruise missile very easily but to make sure that akash can intercept it, we need to conduct test and then we can say for sure that Akash can intercept cruise missile. But there are close to half a dozen SAMs that can intercept a cruise missile. S300 - S400 are very good SAMs. The best for India is to join hands with Russia on their future S500 SAM or Israeli's Arrow 3.

Akash's minimum interception altitude is 30 m, enough to intercept cruise missiles. Arudhra has nothing to do with Akash or cruise missile interception what we need is more AEROSTAT, with which we can detect cruise missiles at longer ranges.

Rather than protecting the cities, it would be better to place missile batteries very near to pakistan border so that missiles will be taken down as soon as they are erected to be launched..

We can as well place an array of ABM battery along the border..

The system was first test-fired in November 2006 elevating India into the elite club of countries to have successfully developed an anti-ballistic missile system, after United States, Russia and Israel.

The US does (that's mentioned in the article) the Aegis, the US is mounting them on USN craft.

Its inducted into IAF few years ago. It can track upto 200 km away specially low flying targets and UAVs.

However in an all-out full-scale nuclear war, Indian BMD would not be able to move a leg.

The best deterrence is MAD. Reliance on any other means would only escalate the arms race.

man India will do EVERYTHING possible to build the best Missile Defense possible in the world. Why will they be concerned about anyone else, when they have the money to build it. And anyhow neither Pak nor China is gonna stop working on their missiles anyhow. And neither is India gonna stop working on its missiles or Missile Defense ever.

Any country cant expect this from other country. Best is to make yourself stronger n not to rely on other country not to develop new missiles and defence systems. It never works that way buddy.

Even if India and Pak are at peace fully with each other, India will still develop its misslies and defence systems, and India has to be ready to face any challenge be it from China, US, Europe or any other country. (no one knows what future holds)

It is specifically designed for ballistic defence... Not sure about cruise missiles though...
