Minhas Air Base

Hi,

The readers, now, should be able to understand the term FORCE MULTIPLIER much better with the purchase of pre owned jordnian f16's. You suddenly got a sqdrn strength of fronline aircrft with all the supprt staff in place nd fighter pilots getting out of one set and getting into nother one.

Nothing beats that---but if that is not available---then atleast 18 2K9,s will prove to be a massive asset. I tell you what----most of the future americn or europen aircraft purchase for Paf will be pre-owned fighter / strike aircraft.

Agreed, its exceptional leap in capabilties with smart thinking and spending ... given the limited resources

I think of the 2 batches of the UAEAF Mirages, 30 were delivered in the early 1990's and 30 in the early 2000's.

If the UAEAF is acquiring 30 F-16 Blk 61s, I believe they will retire the first batch of the Mirages that they received in the early 1990's.

This is bittersweet for the PAF, but more bitter than sweet if you ask me.

I'll take this news with a pinch of salt. The Indians have the French drooling over their Rafale deal, any protest from the Indians (which is guaranteed to happen, vocally or otherwise) may well starve spares and supplies from the French.

If the price is right then the Mirage 2000's will serve very well in PAF and will fill even more strike gap then the current lets see what happens , btw great thread :)

Wow! Why would Alan Warnes reveal the Mirage 2000 speculation?

@Munir @Oscar @Windjammer @MastanKhan

Hi,

Pakisatn must acquire these M2K9's when they become available---. It is a top notch aircraft with a lots of life left in it. Warnes knows how bad pakistan needs these aircaft & how well eqipped this aircraft is.

@Munir @Oscar @Windjammer @MastanKhan

Its speculation, but the simple need is that the PAF wants more strike fighters. The Mirage platform is unparalleled as a stable strike platform..and makes a natural replacement for older mirages in our fleet. Much like the Jordanian F-16s...these aircraft can provide a much needed strike asset.

HOWEVER, I doubt that they will have much useful life left in them and whether the Indians(and ipso facto the French) will be comfortable with the sale. Additionally, the UAE M2K-9s are the only aircraft equipped to fire the "Black Shaheen" series of stand off missiles custom made for the UAEAF. So unless these weapons are retired( since the UAEAF is acquiring SLAM-ERs) these aircraft provide a potent stand-off strike capability that the Block-60 F-16 cannot match.

Pak shouldn't buy the mirage 2000-9s.. Better to finance the JF project or buy more F-16s.
The Mirages from UAE would come with a lower price tag...Since PAF is an expert of dealing French jets ...It would be a good addition ...JF-17 is already on track ...Pakistan Navy needs a dedicated fleet for their operations too ....

In 90s when Mirages 2000 deal between France and india took place, Frence did not stop Australia, Libya and Lebanon from selling their Mirages to Pakistan and that too knowing that these would be upgraded.

Regardless if the revelation is true false by Alan Warnes insider information from PAF or Industrial sources just like industrial sources about F-16s procurement in advance the point has been established Pakistan has always looked towards second but hand quality equipment with multifold capabilities.

People said Dassault stopped manufacturing spares for Mirage 2000 now how do you suppose Indians are getting spares with their Mirages when they finally go through upgrades is Dassult going to open the Mirage 2000 plant again because it is highly unlikely for indians to accept spare parts taken out from retired Mirages...Rafale deal is a factor, could someone post information if seller require NOC/NOD from France to sell equipment minus weapons to second/third party.

Oscar, why won't they have useful life left in them? They got those in late 80s and 90s, just like India did. And India is paying through the nose to bring it's 2Ks up to the standard that UAE already has, so they should have a 15 year life in them, much like the Jordanian F-16s. And PAF is known to push things beyond useful life as well. When the ROSE project was launched, most aircraft already had similar year/hours on them, yet it's been what......14 years and they still linger on? I know i am thinking that Eid has arrived too early, but then again, PAF should not let this opportunity go. OTOH, India getting these would be devastating.

Countries other than India and France also operate/operated Mirage 2000s, so Spares shouldn't be that difficult to procure. If we can source MAR-1 from Brazil against Indian wishes and Procure Raptor/Maa1 from South Africa, why can't we do the same with UAE?

U.A.E Mirages -9 are barely 15 Years old and the ones bought at the end of 80's and later upgraded to -9 still have enough life left in them, Here I want to say when Pakistan bought EX-Australian Mirages how much life were left in them they were pretty much over driven. EX-Australian Mirages were atleast 20-24 Years old when those 50 Mirages were sold to PAF.

Hey it's all speculation at this stage. But in my view, Alan Warnes should not have revealed it. The Jordanian deal was under wraps for months if not years, because you had to get US blessing for that and no one got a hint of that. We only heard the news in the open just a month or so before the 13 F-16s arrived in Pakistan. Similar care should have been taken in this regard, if it is true.

Yes speculations like I said true or false just one thing PAF always love second hand but with greater capabilities just like Jordanian F-16s.
