Military of Ancient India

There is no proof for insecure hindu but enough proof for rest of the world. Sanskrit was developed in ancient Pakistan, and the reason is they migrated from sttepe in to ancient Pakistan. You don't believe that central/peninsular Indians migrated to ancient Pakistan just to develop sanskrit right? :)
Very funny joke
The earliest written languages of ancient India were Prakrit and Sanskrit of eastern India and Tamil of southern India.
The earliest Prakrit and Sanskrit inscriptions were made by the eastern Indian Maurya Empire and the Satavahana Dynasty of Peninsular India. The Pakistani people merely copied the Brahmi script of the eastern Indian Maurya Empire.
There are more Greek and Persian inscriptions in Pakistan than Sanskrit records because Pakistan was mostly under the rule of foreigners like Greeks and Persians.

.
All this and despite that they got crushed by Huns, Sakas, Kushans and so on.

How ancient India if it ever existed had any native force when Rajputs, Jatts and many others themselves are a foreign product.

Not just they, but you as well.and you even more than what you call 'they'..Where did you take your history lesson ? How do you think that you call yourself a muslim today ?

Good joke, Maurya came in to picture much later then aryans. After all they were decendents of invading aryans :) Sanskrit was developed by Panini in Charsada which is in KPK. I wonder why would any Indian migrared to hostile envirement just to develop sanskrit?

Accept it dude, if you write this bs in any neutral forum and they will take you down inmediatly. All those little hindu kingdoms all over India are product of ancient aryans.

Not really. There is a reason why all historians call it as Indian civilization because it was created by Indian people.
Only ancient Indians called themselves as Aryas so its obvious that it is part of the Indian heritage.
And according to your logic the whole world was ruled by foreigners for thousands of years.
And the topic of this thread is the military of ancient India.

Indians aka decendents of invading aryans who imposed caste system on natives to maintain their blood line pure. :)

I am not really sure what you mean.
The Huns were defeated by Skandagupta and later they were destroyed by Yasodharman of Malwa in the 6th century.
The Sakas or Scythians were at first defeated by the Satavahana Dynasty and later they were destroyed by the Gupta Empire.

"ancient and traditional indian military" lost to all "non indian" conquerors, from older great ones like alexander and muhammad bin qasim to newer ones like mughals, tipu sultan and the europeans.

----------------

all it needs is common sense to separate myths from history.
Alexander only conquered modern Afghanistan and Pakistan but he and his soldiers refused to invade India after hearing
of the might of the great Nanda Dynasty which ruled much of northern India. The successor of Alexander called
Seleucus tried to invade India but he was defeated by the Indian Emperor Chandragupta of the Maurya Empire.
The Arabs under Qasim conquered what is modern Afghanistan and Pakistan but the Arabs failed to invade India as the Arabs were defeated by the south Indian Emperor Vikramaditya of the Chalukya Dynasty and the north Indian Emperor Nagabhata of the Pratihara Dynasty in the 8th century. The Mughal Dynasty was destroyed by the Marathas of the Maratha Empire.

his soldiers rebelled, sickened by the constant wars so far from homeland... and the governors he left behind did stay to leave a small mark.

it is laughable to suggest otherwise.

there was no pakistan then, so your argument is invalid.

The Mughal Dynasty was destroyed by the Marathas of the Maratha Empire.

have you taken leave of your senses, my man??

They are descendants of Aryans, just as much as the native population. By the time of the Mauryas, mainstream Indians were already hybridized.

You can see how Brahmin royalty of the Andras from 2nd century BC depicted themselves. They dont look like central asians, dress nothing like them, etc.

Just like they're a product of two groups, India is no different.

Otherwise, show me a central asian civilization that remotely look like this. These example are based around art from 2nd Century BC.

As for the topic. Military related art is extremely rare, but you can find it from time to time.

This here is a relief image of a siege from Sanchi, 2nd century BC.

You're right, that's why north Indian brahmins are genetically different from the rest of the Indians. Brahmins of Bengal even show just 38% south Indian genetic component when most of the Bengali people are just indo-aryan speaking Mundas. As for the rest; most aryan overlords of ancient indians intermixed with the local dravid-munda masses.

In Madhya Pradesh, the rajputs even mixed with dravid gonds, but still some of those rajputs do show their ancient aryan genes sometimes, like Arunodhay Singh for example. Caste system was formed in ancient India to keep Aryans on the top and Dravid-Mundas at the bottom, but some Dravid-Mundas became warriors and reached upper castes. Marhattas for example were shudras at first, but became warriors later on. Shivaji, their first leader, even bribed local brahmins to link his family tree to the Sisodia rajputs of Mewar.

Not really. The Greeks admit that the battle against Porus, who was only a ruler of a small kingdom, was one of the most difficult battles they ever had. And the Greek chronicles mention the military strength of the Nanda Dynasty. Alexander wanted to challenge the Nanda Dynasty of northern India but his soldiers were too afraid as the Nanda Dynasty had a much larger army than Porus.

The argument is not invalid. The region of modern Pakistan was merely a border region of Indian civilization and it was one of the weakest regions of South Asia in terms of military strength. It was rather easy for the Arabs to conquer what is modern Pakistan in th 8th century. But India was at that time ruled by very powerful Dynasties like Pratihara Dynasty in the north and the Chalukya and Rashtrakuta Dynasty in the south. The Pratihara and Chalukya Dynasties crushed the Arab invasion and stopped the Arab expansion.

The Marathas of the Maratha Empire were the ones who defeated the Mughals and conquered the major part of northern India in the 18th century.

. .
So why is India the most Invaded country in the world ever?

Which people didnt get invaded? Greeks were swallowed whole by the Romans, Turks, etc. Iran was swallowed whole by Greeks, Arabs, Mongols, Turkics, etc. And while the NW was getting invaded, much of India was doing just fine.

so why couldn't they defeat tipu sultan without help from four other armies ( and betrayers )??
