Message Of Kayani and the Photogragh

It has been reprted in some circles that Gen.Mullen asked Pakistan not retailiate if IAF strikes within Pakistan ....Gen.Kayani gave Gen.Mullen a photogragh of the F-16 locked a Miarge 2000H on its radar on Dec.14 and later said next time we will shoot them....
I hope this news is true
If anyone can plz confirm this
otherwise I think treat it as a rumour

What we do know is that at least one aircraft was locked on inside of the Pakistani airspace. In terms of the aircraft, there is mention of the MKI as well as the M2K. BBC reported the lock on against the MKI as per Pakistani sources. PAF will never publish pictures of lock-ons. Its a matter of opsec.

What can be confirmed is that COAS did gave a firm response to general Mullen and told him that a response would be swift and strong. Then PAF displayed their readiness and army and navy also starting preparations.

I hope it was MKI....anyways..can anybody make an educated guess weather it was BVR lock or an WVR... I believe a BVR lock as the distance and time indiactes a distance beyond 10-15 km

the Anza MKIII is a Chinese QW-2 missile system produced under license in Pakistan having range of 6+ km. it has improved ECCM Capability. it is considered to be similar in capability to the US FIM-92E Stinger missile.

They were able to see the ordnance loadout on the aircraft and took a picture. Based on these facts, I would speculate the lock-on happened WVR.

photo could also be a 'interception' photo - like the ones taken by US fighters and Russian Bear bombers.

'Lock on' would mean the PAF fighter would have been in a dominating position on the tail. if it had been, then the PAF / pakistan government would clearly have stated that they were in a position to shoot the ac down but showed restraint.

My guess is fighters flying side by side on either side of the border. taking pictures of each other.

btw where did this news come from? are there any links out there that say a photo was taken ? thanks in advance

If PAF's fighter achieved lock-on, and then showed the locking picture or movie to the Adm Mullen, then it must be the HUD film of the Pakistani fighter.

When IAF shot down PN Altantique, they proudly released the HUD film (actually a shot) of shooting the PN aircraft down. I think PAF has not fired a shot but has just locked on IAF fighter and there is no harm in showing the HUD film or picture.

We also happened to see the HUD movies of the Turkish AF versus Hellenic AF dogfights.

Release of only the lock-on picture shall not expose the whole maneuver used to close in, except the last step of it.

just a correction. IAF never released HUD film. they released photos of wreckage and some film that showed helicopter with airmen salvaging wreckage.

There is a HUD shot on the "website-they-dont-allow-me-to-link" but I think that shot was leaked by someone they know.

i used to follow the news very thoroughly and never found teh shot anywhere.

still i am sure defence.pk with its contcts will be able to get similar scoops as well
