Mental Health Corner

I have a psychological disease known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD). I have been visiting a psychiatrist for years now but he is out of town so cannot contact him. Due to my disease I have serious anger issues and irritation and I'm not feeling well now. Can a doctor please suggest me some ways how can I control my anger and irritation? It would be of great help. Thank you.
Thanks... @jaibi
I am on meds for OCD and am doing pretty good... Never taken CBT though started recently but I don't think its addressing to my specific needs. Psychotherapy doesn't work for me also ( I am good at arguments and well its difficult to talk through me).
Anyway, I think ERP but more importantly hypotherapy will help me addressing a specific phobia but that is upto a psychologist to decide (but the problem is, I don't think there are any specialist here).
Anyway, so the thing is I am aware of myself and I even know what steps are necessary to improve myself....but my main problem is implementing. I don't act on things which I know I should and thus I reached out to psychologists again.

P.S: Anyway, Just stated my situation to ease other memebers to open up. Its again pointed out that this thread is just a general place to talk, ease up about your lives and connect with others familiarizing about their problems too. For your own benefit, please seek professional help if you are having mental problems or if the stresses in life becomes unbearable.

Welcome on-board the mental bus trip.

Right now, I would advise you to visit any other psychiatrist as a temporary measure. He/She will probably restart the previous treatment plan.
Also, a general physician might prescribe you 0.5 mg of Alprazolam (alp) to calm your anxiety and make you sleep better at night for a couple of weeks if no psychiatrist is avaiable rn. But don't take meds for any long duration without consulting a proper psychiatrist.

For non-medicine treatment, you need to visit psychologist (CBT/ERP/OCD specialist). Both this and medicine treatment go hand in hand to treat OCD.

I am on meds for OCD for 8 years. Just know we all are out there and things get better with treatment. Cure depends upon person to person. Many get completely cured. I met a cardiologist who was former OCD patient but after taking meds and pshchological treatments, he was completely cured.

Hope you get better soon!

I always have recurring thoughts which are quite disturbing. Also I always have the feeling that people are out there to hurt me. This in turn causes anger and frustration.

Can you please help. Due to my OCD I always am surrounded by negativity. These are the things which happens to me.

I cannot trust people and I unnecessarily doubt actions of individuals.

I always feel people hate me and everyone is against me and this makes me angry and irritated 24 hours.

Sometimes bad memories from the past circulates in my mind and this again makes me angry.

What can I do now?

These symptoms could signal a comorbid issue along with OCD... some behavorial disorders.... are you visiting psychologist for therapies and psychiatrist for meds?

If I was expereincing such, I would have cunsulted with psychiatrist and talked to him to adjust my SSRI (Anti-Depressants/Mood-Stablizer) dose.

Rest, unless one is too self-concious and can control oneself, one has to seek professional help i.e psychologist who will help you overcome the insecurities, negative emotions and furstration.

I would advise you to exercise cause it helps body produce the natural chemicals you will bet through medicine. Rest, it is also good for mind....

The issues you mentioned will take time to treat but you need to get on track to deal with them. The pace is ususally set by the patient as to how prompt one can manage them. Get youself appointment.

Hi there hope you improve soon. Last one and half year has been really bad people have suffered too much some lost their livelihood and out in search of new job which honestly has been very tough. People lost loved ones, those who got infected and recovered are suffering from the long term effects of the disease but like someone near to me says "welcome to the new world, this is the new reality. Learn to survive it"

While growing up every time my grandfather found me idle he would scold me and ask me to start doing something, if I didn't he would put me up to some mundane chores and continued to do so till I had my own kids and he passed away. When I grew up he used to console me that I should never be idle minded because an idle mind is the ideal playground for Satan.

Thus I developed few time consuming hobbies book reading, music listening (no sad songs allowed), later electronics design and audiophile grade audio equipment DIY, gardening, yoga and meditation. My gramps used to spend large amounts of money to get me books, electronic items, music albums and plants for gardening.

Come to think of it now I realize whenever I get a depression attack those are the days when I am not engaged in any of my hobbies. During Covid 19 lock down era I kept myself extremely busy reading new books, designing new circuits, making new PCBs and restoring old vintage equipment. I have tried to coach my children in the same way they have picked up few hobbies and they too are seldom found idle.

I always suggest people having emotional challenges to pick up some time consuming hobby, meditate, pray and consult a good physician or therapist.

Designing this PCB for Bugle 2 ground up took me days, then sourcing the parts, populating the PCB and testing it few other days.

Complete restoration of this late 70's beauty took me week but in the end it was worth it. Sorry later, gotta run for a zoom meeting

Nice to hear from you and see you on pdf after a long time.

I am trying not to waste time but I can see a large portion of my day being unproductive. Will strive to go out and play Basketball and indulge in other activities which will also help change evironment. Incidently, I got into a car accident yesterday. Alhumdulillah safe and unhurt.

For youngsters, Drive at safe speed and always wear seatbelt. Those were found lacking in me. And the incident also made me realize how easy it is to kill or get hurt others and self. And how lucky we are everyday and should pray for Aafiyat!

Way better since monday thanks to ALLAH.
For when life is worse than death it is then the truest valor to dare to live.
Sometimes I wonder.
Why do characters in movies when they face a live or die situation struggle so much to save their lives even going so far as killing other people just to save their own lives.
If it were for me I would try to get out of that situation but not get too carried away with it.

When I visited gastroentrologist, he also gave me this medicine for 1 month after checking my body languageView attachment 600848

A gastro doctor has no business starting you on an antidepressant. There is a reason why it's not widely used here in the UK....

did he for example do any followups on your mental state?

Review the dose? Side effects? Balance overdose risk?

Why only give it to you for a month?
None of it makes sense lol.

This drug can worsen certain GI problems such as constipation etc.
