Men's fashion tips, clothing, watches, cologne etc

Fashion should be something that carries with you most of the time. It should be you. Some of the pictures you get of Holly/Bollywood are so contrived. Most of us can't spend hours or have make up artists to rig you out before you go in front of cameras.

That is why I prefer more natural styles that are easily kept. That you just slap on and your good to go.I wish people posted pictures of themselves that way you get to see real world style then idealized celebs.

It's getting pretty chilly here. My favourite outfit has been pairing a dark brown leather jacket with dark denim and dark brown boots. Yes lots of "dark"... And the fragrance I have been using quite often is chanel allure home sport eau extreme

It's quite good for colder months as it has a great tonka note which sticks out.

ok you can post semi naked guys and scarfs if you consider it manly

umm, the mods never utter a squeak nor scowl when others make threads about almost-full-naked male bodybuilders, despite my protestations in those threads generally asking for thread close. :azn:

what i detect in this thread from others about my posts is attempt to be overly macho to compensate for your unsaid knowledge that i am right about cravats and cufflinks being the ultimate in manly ( gentlemanly ) dressage and not some fanciful watch. :agree:

p.s - t-shirts, and only plain ones, are to be only worn as under-shirts and never openly by themselves, otherwise it would be crass.

@B+ Dracula , do you know of this thread??

here's my contribution from two days ago... this[1] is the same copy of cravats from the other thread but with some text added... this[2] is explanation about different types of cravats.

update - how to tie a cravat - yt vids

this[3] and this[4] is how to tie a cravat in simple steps... and this[5] is a spanish ( or maybe portuguese ) explanation of tying a cravat and i am posting this because he puts on various cravat patterns and with various shirts and coats and one of the cravats is very beautiful ( snapshot below ) and he has co-ordinated that cravat so nicely with the shirt and coat ( i myself don't wear coats/jackets )... i must say that the tying technique in [3] is the best as it keeps your cravat generally tight for longer time.

one important thing is the cravat must show properly, so don't put on the shirt top button... the above picture is to be used as guide.

and do follow the conversation here.

later today i will post about cuff-links.

good point... and first we will cover the "no coat" bit.

i live in south india which mostly does not have too cold climes except in hill stations like ooty and kodaikanal, so one can go with just a shirt... and a cravat does come of much help in keeping the neck warm when traveling in a open vehicle at night or on a night train.

to your point about styling, though the best way to mix-n-match the cravats with your shirts and pants would be to lay them out on a bed and think through the combinations, i have understood a few things...

1. our aspiring gentleman wears the belt and the shoes in the same color and never are the belt buckles garish or overly large... this sets a dignified tone to the overall dressage and doesn't create a clash with the rest of the dressing, especially when you are wearing one extra bit than others...

2. since the cravat has to stand out, it must contrast with the shirt and pants... so the below cravat is wrongly matched in color and pattern ( too closely matches the pants color )...

cravat-club-london-silk-cravats-pocket-squares-made-in-england.jpg

the cravat should have been dark brown or dark blue ( shiny plain or nicely patterned ) both of which go well with the blackish shirt and the cream pants.

and of course, only at being forced to take up physical labor should a cravated get his shirt untucked, otherwise all in.

3. the cravat must at all times be tight and proper, unless the wearer is busy with immediate work... so the below mishap just won't do...

cravat.jpg

though i must say the cravat color and pattern are good.

4. with a white shirt, many kinds of cravat colors and patterns go easily - red, dark blue, light-brown pattern, mix of light-blue and dark-blue to name some...

Clark-Gable.jpg

here is our hired killer about to fire into some unfortunate watermelons... he wears his with top button done but i would suggest leaving that button undone...

jackalcravat.jpg

5. a red shirt, which only goes with black pants, will need black cravat ( plain or patterned ).

6. shirts of dark brown or dark green go well with dark brown or black cravats.

7. if you have a big-checked shirt, the cravat should be lighter or darker depending on the shirt color.

8. never wear the shirt and cravat of the same color, even if george clooney tells you to...

in his case, the blue shirt would have gone well with dark brown cravat.

9. never go for the "regimental" type of cravat... it would look quite pretentious outside of a military ceremonial...

Thanks for your detail reply....sorry for replying late actually iwas busy in last few days....not only i like your idea but i've preserved it in my safe personal blog along with your previous posts .....In my twenties i followed "Johnny Bravo" rough casual style of Jeans with colorful T-shirts / shirts with Joggers .....now Iam in my 2nd year of thirties 8-) with grown up bulky built ...so iam thinking again to set new Elegant pattern to enjoy my styling which was not my first priority previously ...& thats the main reason iam following you for last few months and i've an account of yours name in my blog
.
Iam in consent with you like ...Grow hair and comb neatly / shoes must be dark and polished/ color-coordinate your clothes /never wear flashy clothes or flashy watches / once you also said ....prefer Cravat over Tie .....All Accepted
except one little hiccup....I prefer full sleeve T-shirts over Shirts and i make deal spicy by adding Coat and Jacket on it ..which means to me ...i wont enjoy CRAVAT on T-shirts ?? or what should i do
.
Right now, I am in love with that simple Pattern ... iam going to increase my fleet of coats in next coming days...these pictures are just snapshots of my new preference
