Detoxification primarily taking place in liver and kidney, environmental/food habits/infection may affect functions of liver technically it creates imbalance between pro-oxidants/oxidants and anti-oxidants levels simply it affects the redox state of cells. During infection its change the biological design of the cell both condition leads to formation of cyst/fibrous/lobes formation thereby it will affects regenerative capacity of liver which is only organ in our having such capability so such position is detrimental for body homeostasis. Without knowing state I mean level of disease progression like A,B,C its quite impossible to tell anything. Earlier treatment is always good option I hope everything will be alright.
Biopsy is invasive procedure so no need to do that I think better go for imaging or other. B4 doing anything consult at-least 3 specialists is recommended.
If the person's liver is damaged to the extent where it is imminent to give up... Can the liver transplant help increase the span of life? Sorry my knowledge about medical science is close to Nil
Actually that person is my father and the doctors confirmed he is suffering from Cancer and his liver has been damaged by up to 90% as per him? He was suffering from hepatitis C for couple of years but the laters had confirmed that the hepatitis stopped damaging his liver since 2008. Now in 2012 we are hearing that he is now suffering from Cancer
He is 58 years old and so far I have not heard of his cancer spread anywhere but the liver itself
If its true liver transplants is only option left .Where are you now? UK or Pakistan , if you are at Pakistan better get treatment in India especially TN its relatively very cheap and effective.
The Hindu : Tamil Nadu / Vellore News : Apollo Hospitals performs 70 liver transplants
List of Approved Hospitals for Liver Transplantation as of 13 Feb 2012 « Cadaver Transplant Programme, Government of Tamil Nadu
It is very sad to hear this bro, may Allah bless him the soonest recovery inshAllah he will be fine!! and will join other cancer survivors!
And I guess that could be only done if it is transplanted from someone close to him like son or daughter??
I am in UK but father is in Pakistan. It might be difficult for us to obtain visa for India but I will try to convince him to come to UK. He does not like UK and has only come here for 2-3 times... We have not told him about his cancer yet so will have to find another excuse...
Somebody told me to take him to China and it is quite easy for Pakistanis to obtain Chinese visa but i am not sure. I will look in to the Indian hospitals as well and after seeking advice from his doctors I might be able to reveal more details in next few days

No point in telling the world about it Zakii before your father knows about it!
I am sorry but I disagree with you hiding it from him. It's his body and he has the right to know it.
It's completely unethical and unprofessional for you guys to hide it from him. I hope you know that legally it's only his decisions that count.
