dont know which is better. specification should be very similar. both are based on chinese 90-II tank.
(vt1a is chinese export version of 96.
mbt 2000 is the joint venture export version based on 90-II ,
chinese own version of ungraded 90-II is 96
pakistan own version of 90-II is Al-Khalid )

according to chinese source. vt1a is cheaper. that is the reason why vt1a won the bangladesh tank competitive bidding in 2011.

Looks like we have different camo for tanks

Either the functionality on terrain may differ(yellow, open battlefield. green, forested battle field)or bangladesh army paints the tanks anyhow.

not cheaper... but Bangladesh chose chinese offer because it was feasible, Bangladesh will play slowly... Bangladesh has 6-7 years to pay for this 44 tanks......

engine is probably Ukraine engine. it is cheaper than chinese engine. but can also be chinese engine.
and VT1A itself has many different version.
some VT1A version use steering wheel and automatic gearshift.
dont know which version of VT1A banglash get.

as I understand. the VT1A is a up to customer MBT. ( customer oriented)
it is similar as you buy a dell laptop.
the price and specification depends on the component youself choose.
It also doesnt mean it is better than MBT2000.

VT1A is NOT Type 96, it is a descendant of Type 90II series same as AK and MBT 2000, the designation emerged for Peru order but since then nothing is heard. Type 96's (type-85 III series) final modification is known as VT-2 which has incorporated technologies from type-99 and type-90II.
