What's new

Maybe Pakistan should start thinking about creating another nuclear power in the shape of Turkey.

This piece should be seen in the context of the obvious coming US sanctions in the next months against Pakistan, so it wouldnt really matter even if the yanks found out.

Apart from Pakistan, Turkey has proven itself to be, time and again, the only other country amongst the Islamic world, mature, responsible, professional, capable and stable enough to be a nuclear power. The turks are proving their diplomatic will and national freedom to the world under Erdogan by standing up for certain issues. Pakistan has long since carried the mantle of bieng the sole muslim nuclearpower and we have paid very very dearly for that. Maybe it is time another nuclear power popped up to stand beside Pakistan. It would go a long way in increasing the global power of the Islamic world with not one but two extremely smart and powerful nuclear powers standing side by side in dettering our collective enemies from their nefrarious designs. Covert transfer of nuclear and advanced ballistic missle technology(MIRV and tactical straightup:D) from Pakistan to Turkey could see the latter attaining the mantle they deserve and should've got by now of standing beside the select group of nations impregnable to attack from outside forces. Heaven's know it would help Pakistan, not to be the only one. Frankly, we feel lonely in this realm.

What would be better for both Turkey and us would be to place our weapons thier to "protect" Turkey. This provides them with a nuclear umbrella (can they trust the NATO one?) without the political pressure of becoming a nuclear state.

They could then learn the manufacturing process in Pakistan.

What crazy idea is this brother?

Pakistan shared its nuclear tech with Iran and Libya just for this very purpose that Pakistan would not be the only Muslim nuclear power and instead there would be at least three thus decreasing the pressure on Pakistan. What did the Iranians and the Libyans do, backstab Pakistan, Iran handed over Pakistani nuclear centrifuge designs to the US.

Turkey is a NATO country. It has had Western military bases on its soils for decades and hosts US nuclear weapons.

Turks aren't even capable of acquiring a nuclear power plant never mind a nuclear weapon for themselves. Also not to mention how close they to the Zionist state.

Nukes are not a sophisticated weapon. A group of Ph.D's can easily develop one, given the resources and time. The countries are not developing Nukes because they know the repercussions of developing one. Also, the availability of fissile material is an issue and lack of Nuclear power plants, even having them draws with strict IAEA guidelines.
I respectfully disagree ,,, Nuclear weapon itself is not complex but as you yourself gettign fissile material plus the mettalergical challenges for material required, the delivery mechanisim and detonation mechanisim are really complex issues ...

However, I partially agree that there are other technologically advanced nations that can achieve the capability like south africa, turkey and canada ...

Turkey is a more reliable ally than other muslim countries, that is why i explicitly mentioned that it is the only other muslim country that can be trusted now due to erdogan in power...turks have been known to be reliable and honourable people, not backstabbers like iran.

Iran did not backstab us ... It was a regime change ... Change in policies and change in power ... Similar things happened in Pakistan at the time of bhutto and zia ... We get into russian block and then back into American block ... Such type of risks will remain there for example erdogan is a pro islamic leader but if there are some drastic changes in power brokers of turkey and turkey gets fall into secular regime then it will become a US ally and we might see similar issues we had with libya ... If you understand what i mean

Shifting blocks cannit be compared to revealing who gave u nuclear tech, we should nt make excuses for those who affronted and betrayed us, bottom line is regime change or not, iran did back stab us......concerning erdogan, well after the failed coup he has emereged as one of the most powerful leaders with regard to the support he has now in his country and due to the fact that he has all but removed and arrested every last one of the supporters from the secularist, pro west lobby. People from judiciary, army, beaurocracy, media, hospitals and even schools and uni's, hence it would be almost impossible for the yanks now to remove him via covert means and that is why turkey is now under a threat of a direct invasion in these 10 yrs, because that seems to be the only portal remaining to the yanks as of now to get rid of erdogan, that is exactly why i was advocating turkey becoming a nuclear power...

Kafi bara nam hai Muneer sahab ka lekin kuch logo ko Mirchi AQ Khan kai nam sai lugti hai.
AQ KHAN bechara was a sacrfice of state policy....he was told to take the blame on his shoulders to let the state escape culpability and as usual he stood up to the challenge....

Iran did not revealed us intentionally ... it was Libya ,,, IAEA found used centrifuge matching with the designs in use of Pakistan, actually they caught red handed ... It was not a betrayal but carelessness of our as well as theirs team ...

I agree that turkey and Pakistan are key target of anti muslims lobby but its better that turkey do not attract unnecssary attention and should work on converntional power on the other hand already nuclear power Pakistan and Turkey could have some sort of defence agreement which will be a perfect win win situation without any significant cost ...

However, war between Arabs (including turks) and Israel is coming ... What will be our role is yet to be seen ... I think we will not be involved as it will be combined attack from Israel and India and the moment we get involved with Israel, India will attack us ... Unfortunate but realistically we will not be able to save Arabs from Israel as they are on self destruction mode and Israel has to do nothing but just to land its forces on already dead Arabs, including Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Libya ... THe only hurdle is KSA, Iran, Egypt and Turkey ... KSA and Iran are going to destroy each other within a decade or less whereas once KSA is gone Egypt will also trumble and economically egypt is even weaker than Pakistan ... So only real hurdle is Erdogan's Turkey, for which they tried coupe,,, I think resistance of Erdogan is going to fail sooner or later ,,, Under leadership of PMLN and PPP we are going to be no one ... Next government will be even weaker coalition gov whereas Army is too occupied in tribal areas ... thanks to US Daish is moving to north eastern Afghanistan from Iraq and Syria ...

Future seems dark and tough ... I hope some chrismatic leader emerges out of the ashes to the likes of Shah Faisal, Mahater Muhammad, Kaddafi and Bhutto (for his OIC part only) ... but if it does not happen there will be no independent muslim country will be left on the map of the earth ... Irony is it will be not out of some external attack but we are killing each other ... be it Iraq, Syria, Yemen, today's Afghanistan, Libya or Pakistan's tribal region ...

May Allah save us ...

Nuclearized Turkey doesn't look healthy to me, don't you think?

Still, Pakistan will always be the most respected Islamic country on this planet to me. But I think this whole debate about providing nuclear weapon tech and material to Turkey is a dangerous topic with a possible bad outcome for both sides.

Turkey needs to lay off the lime light and develop itself in the shades.
We Pakistanis have already attracted hell of a lot of attention to ourselves being pathan minded....

I disagree with you too. It took only three new and young PhD's in Physics (that too in 1967) to design a working nuclear bomb in three years. So, you can imagine how readily it can be developed with low yields and when we look at both our countries, we detonated only a couple of times. So, what are the odds a country with enough experienced scientists developing a working bomb with a known delivery system?

All these nations you mentioned, decided against (Not sure about Turkey if they had plans though) developing Nuclear weapons. That's the only reason they don't have them.

Possibility of using nuclear weapon against a state is the worst case scenario but As long as some states host them to threaten securiy of other nations, It became inevitable to provide same deterrence to keep stability so Even If I don't like the idea, I have to support it.

In addition, USA, Russia and West would never accept a nuclear Turkey since, We are a state having very serious potential economically and industrially, While USA like states want to keep us inside of their influence zone and, also trying to keep regional stability in terms of their benefits against other states like Greece. Contrary to this, Turkey finally realized the power of own industry and broke the chain with a scope of changing the stability of regions. In addtions, We have many unsolved debates with other states in own regions, so Using force against a likely provocation targetting our national benefits is also around possibility. Today, Turkey with rising capabilities, can not even controlled by those states politically/militarily. The regional conflicts of Western powers to shape the region have been tried to be blocked in favour of own benefits, While struggling with their secret embargoes on many systems as a result. In this aspect, Imagine a nuclear Turkey now, then How that situation will serve their benefits to support us ?

.
BS. the two facts, design and fissile materials are biggest technological challenges which are beyound the capacity of most nations.

Downloading a white paper on internet on how to make Atom bomb for dummies would have made Togo a nuclear power by now.
Ever heard of the Nth country experiment?

.
Turkey don't need Nukes for now, their conventional Military is powerful enough to handle any Enemy ..Nukes will bring unwanted attentions and proxies ( like it happen with Pakistan ) but for Pakistan, we don't have a choice nor we were part of NATO , we have a Enemy close to 10 times bigger in every aspect with whom we already fought 4 WARS , we have to make sure that we don't get invaded and destroyed .
It's all in your mind, we will never invade you...
