it is not a law but a standard clause.unlike law it can be easily circumvented.
just trying to spread awareness on the both side.it is not as great a safety net as one might like to think but once you sign the contract without touching it.it will set itself in stone

The verse (4:3) permitting multiple marriages starts by stressing on being just with orphan girls, as I have been parroting again and again on this forum that we Muslims really need to understand what it means by orphan and miskeen (who are these people Quran keeps referring to) ..... these are the people in a society who are homeless and helpless, and they need society and state to look after them, in contrast to our limited understanding that these are the people whose parents have dies. Imagine how our understanding of orphan and miskeen equates an orphan like NS, Zardari and an old guy living alone and surviving on things he picks up from garbage cans. Ridiculous, narrow minded nonsensical .... equation .......... and what is more ridiculous Zarvan telling me it is haram if I challenge this equation.

....... by all means the verse is a guideline and advice to an Islamic state and its citizens that if you feel that the society won't be able to do justice with helpless dependent women then marry as many as maximum of four .... but beware you have to treat them all equally ......... and if you feel you won't be able to abide by the marriage contract don't marry anyone at all ...... your fully owned females should be enough.

Now the last part related to fully owned females (Kaneez) ......... is what makes it more easy to understand that the permission is granted according to situation faced by people of any time ....... in today's world owning Kaneez is not a tradition or normal practice. If it was all about to distinguish haram and halal then the last part of the verse is something made halal then. This limited understanding of making it compulsory and binding is not correct.

Problem simply is that Muslims interpret Islamic legislation through the eyes of MEN and not as HUMANS.

Quran was sent for Humanity and not for MEN only.

In Pakistan every law is has to be in accordance with Quran and Sunnah and Quran and Sunnah doesn't give this right to women.

Yar this law is amazing and has done far more good. People have gotten property rights thanks to section 4. Marriages are under documentation making deciet in family matters impossible according to section 5 and section 6 has made marriage deception of married males marrying indefinitely isn't happening. Jahilo Kay sath wasta par gaya hain. Thank God in moulvion ke koi power nahi reh Gaye. Can only abuse while doing a dharna in Islamabad.

The laws decided by ALLAH and his RASOOL SAW can't be changed. This permission was given will always remain there and please go check How many women are murdered each year and How many are divorced and thrown out of house due to not giving permission. And many those who get divorced fail to remarry

I didn't called you anything you are opposing a law which is declared halal by ALLAH go read what is the status of those who oppose or declare something Haram which is declared Halal by ALLAH. Chrisitans used to do that with their scholars they used to blindly accept what they used to tell them is Halal and what is Haram although ALLAH had told it to be totally opposite ALLAH called this thing like worshiping them. It's one of the major major sins pretty much equal to playing GOD if you declare something made Halal by ALLAH as Haram or vice versa.

Read Sura Nisa again and again ....... and may be you will realise Hudood of ALLAH are laws implemented by a state which it formulates based on the immutable guidance given in Quran. No Angel comes to implement those hudood .......... read 4:14 when people are warned to follow hadood strictly, and try to understand that Messenger Peace be upon him established a state and formulated laws, now read Quran again and you will come across many verses where Hadood have been mentioned but no clear order has been given .... in all those cases its the laws of the state derived from immutable guidance given in Quran. You need to understand that Quran is for all times and when it orders something then that order is binding irrespective of the time and age we are living in, e.g. pig meat is haram it will remain haram no matter what. And where Quran remains silent ....... it affords the Islamic state liberty to formulate its own laws based on their needs of the times they are living in but within the limits of guidance. As I mentioned keeping Kaneez was perfectly ok back then but now its not ok ...... according to your logic anyone who doesn't marry a free woman and then doesn't also keep a kaneez in these times is not following Quran ...... and thus your bomb of all fatwas.

If today any Islamic state is making it a strict requirement to seek permission from first wife before marrying another woman ....... that law is there to protect the rights of the first wife ....... which is in total conformity with spirit of Islam and Quran .......... the just treatment is what Islam is about not the unchecked freedom of a Muslim male to go on marrying and divorcing and remarrying. You calling this law haram is a sin in itself, its disobedience of the state and hadood ........ your logic of keeping the number of wives to 4 without any checks and balances has made it easy for males who wish to taste different biryani every now and then ........ what they have to do is divorce one of the existing 4 and add a new one. Kuch ALLAH ka khuaf karo ......

I have read Quran several times and Janab still I can tell you over and over again no permission from first wife is required. This law is not based on Quran and Sunnah but totally opposite to it.And it's not protecting women rights Janab only creating more issues in society the cases of wife either getting divorced and thrown out of house with no one to care off because she didn't allowed husband 2nd marriage or even worse getting killed are increasing massively. Sorry this freedom is what ALLAH and his RASOOL SAW have given followed by Sahabas and let me remind you lot of Sahabas were seriously poor still many of them had more than one wife. You need to do ALLAH ka khauf and stop justifying a Haram thing.
