I am not "worried" about UP being broken up rather my emotion ranges from indifference to happiness (indifference as UP affairs don't affect me much and happiness as UP-walas - Muslim or Hindu - are notorious for their arrogance and superiority complex, so it will be nice to see it broken up).

Bangladesh has the 5th fastest growing economy in the world in the past 5 years (from 2008 to now) and this is without proper energy supplies, infrastructure or good governance, so imagine when we get these 3 sorted out.

Bangladesh may actually expand in land rather than contract as the residue of the floods accumulates soil (long story).

It depends on the government rather smaller states for efficient administration. its true that smaller states can be easy to administer but it hasn't been the case every time that a smaller states created by bifurcation of a bigger state they have prospered eg jharkhand while some others have eg. Uttarakhand because of the good governance it got (no SP-BSP there ). While other bigger states like TN,Karntaka,Maharashtra are doing fairly well.

India is not a developed country to afford legal cost and manpower time and cost of dealing with smugglers. Why do Bangladeshi whine so much? When they whine, they do not want to be reminded that the person killed was doing and illegal and dangerous act. It is well known to all that jumping over international fence can get you killed.

there's hardly 100$ difference annually in per capita incomes of UP and BD...as i said UP is amongst India's most backward states and your per capita income is nearly half of India's .

nature of Up wallas varies from east to west ...eastern up is more influenced by bihar and western upites are haryanvi types...totally different people. people of awadh are known for their 'tehzeeb' .

But the reality on ground is that resources of UP are not being distributed adequately. All the money goes to few particular regions.

And say if West UP does indeed do better, what is wrong? It will yield to a faster growth rate of West UP.

East UP on the other hand will learn to develop on its own. As it is it is ignored because the politicians dont focus there. Local politicians will rise from that area to cater for that area!

That is the best part. The administrative machinery per capita will increase dramatically with a bifurcation. This will undoubtedly lead to better services for the people. Currently the administrative machinery is minimum! Having new and more courts, officials, etc will improve services for the people in both west and east UP.

BTW there no specific rule regarding India upgrading it's base year in every 5 years. Last base year India used was 2004-05 and current is 2011-12.
