MALYSHEV PLANT GOES TO A NEW COOPERATION STAGE WITH PAKISTAN

but they won't buy T-90 ..
They can buy if they buy T-90 doesn't mean they won't buy OPLOT P older 1200 T-59 can't get replaced by only one Tank at least two Tank are needed to do the job

its not hard to use your brain sometimes, we are producing AK-1 , and AK-2 is almost ready .. we are most likely getting Oplot P , why on earth you want to add another same generation Tank for logistical nightmare ? AK-1 is better than T-90 on paper ..

Al-Zarrar has a 125mm gun, much powerful against armoured or hardened targets.

but i read that they stopped Upgrading the T-59's .. but 125 mm guns for Zarrar is good, they can still serve the FC or border forces at Afghan .

Janab Pakistan always has and always will operate more than one Tank in fact even more than two so look at our history you would see AK I and AK II and OPLOT and at least one other Tank in future

Mate would be much better if our delegation is there to convince the Ukrainian that you pathetic fools can no longer be trusted with complete system orders. Better give us the TOT help us establish the manufacturing facilities and take our money. A deal could be worked out to ensure that critical components that are to be imported will face no delays... As far as I know, Thailand canceled any further orders.
Hi i agree but it could be the other way around daily basis i deal in Industrial equipments and sellings at the end it depends upon the buyer how smart he/she in our case organization is

Yar thailand ka haal dekh lia ha na? anyhow I for once welcome your optimistic thinking. Just remember that it took Ukraine 4-6 years to deliver 49 tanks...

"Five T84 Oplot tanks are being shipped to the Royal Thai Army, according to The Bangkok Post. A final group of 13 tanks have been manufactured and await Thai certification, the newspaper reports. So far, Thailand has received 31 of 49 tanks it contracted in 2011 to buy from Ukraine. Russia’s military offensives against Ukraine in 2014 forced Kyiv to suspend tank exports."

Truely pathetic performance displayed by malyshev plant and ukrainian defence industry. We should consider a different avenue.
Type 56 has already replaced MP5 in CQB. You don't necessarily require those bullpup's for CQB, just take a 7.62x39mm with a shorter barrel.

The weight class, max speed, and range are VERY important because they determine the types of environments where they will be able to function. They also determine what kind of war maneuvers they can participate in.

The desert plains, where the Oplot and VT4 were trialed.

In northern parts of Punjab,PA prefers medium tanks like Al-Zarrar as the terrain is not exactly plain - there are small hills and marshes, bunkers with anti-tank weapons (ATGM,RR,RPG), trenches and mines littered in pockets.

Hmmm correct me if I am wrong, but given the area that needs to be covered, would the ideal number be around 400 tanks? It is just a wild guess on my part.

Today at the final stage of testing and evaluation is an agreement on the purchase of the Ukrainian battle tank "Oplot". And in case of its signing, Pakistan will purchase more than one hundred units of this equipment at the Kharkov plant "Malyshev Plant".

100+ units,i.e., 2-3 regiments.

Pakistan doesn't have the money to buy more. The Type 59's & 69's should have gone yesterday.

But isn't there a possibility of complete ToT transfer, even of the engine? In which case we can produce as many as we like, right?

The Army will probably look at re-manufacturing the T-80UDs into Oplot-Ps. Besides upgrading the T-80UDs, it'd also mean streamlining logistics, maintenance and support. It would also mean 400+ Oplot-P/Haider MBTs (i.e. 100 new + 300+ re-manufactured). The mainstay of the armour modernization program is the AK and its subsequent variants, e.g. AK-1, AK-2, etc.

I don't think the PA will be able to replace the T-59 with new MBTs on a 1:1 basis. There's no comparison between the Cold War-era crude beater and the advanced and integrated systems of today, the latter costing several times the T-59. It'll be interesting to see how the PA tries compensating, e.g. will it aim to replace the T-59s with 8x8 AFVs and/or new tracked IFVs with 105 mm guns and ATGM launchers?

As for manufacturing tank engines. I suspect Pakistan will get overhaul and spare parts manufacturing for the 6TD-2 and 6TD-3, but for full turnkey manufacturing, they'll have to develop (or co-develop) an original solution.

PA started replacing Type 69's as well along with Type 59. Several regiments retired their Type 69 tanks in last 10 years.
